Just to take this into the larger wold context...The question comes up is how can GM sell so many cars yet be losing enormous amounts of cash? I'm sure we all know some of the answer to that question, but it still boggles the mind...

There will be an 'S' version and it's rumored an AWD option will become available as well.

Oh I agree, there are some great benefits to the Grand Prix. The GXP is top notch, but hampered by FWD (personally, I LIKE this aspect, but many don't). The GP GT is a great performance bargain, but has ZERO ad budget, so how do people know that for $25k you get a 260hp s/c performance sedan with phenomenal aftermarket support?

Can you imagine if Pontiac actually ADVERTISED the GT and GXP together in an ad? I think the cars are phenomenal deals...but they're still hampered with a so-so interior, and an exterior that has never caught on like the old one...for good reason.

I have a Blue Green Crystal GT with black leather, moonroof, Monsoon 6 disc and polished 17s on my lot I've been eyeing since last September. I had a customer for my car, and almost bought it...but something always holds me back. Now that its $2k cheaper for me to buy it today instead of last September ($1,600 lower sticker, no $750 rebate but extra GM points), I'm still mulling on it...but just can't seem to pull the trigger. When I sit in it, its nice...but is it nice enough to spend over $400 a month for 5 years???

Probably not So we'll see what discounts they have this summer, if/when its still sitting there. That's the problem...discounting doesn't make me buy. Making a better car? THAT will make me buy.

I'm a loyal GP owner, and I want to love the new one...I just happen to really like it, though...

US market share

GM sales fell 2.7% in Feb. over Feb. of 05. Its market share for Feb. 06 is 23.4%. Jan. 06 sales were up over Jan. 05 sales due to fleet sales increase, so year to date market share is 24.4%.
GM said it will slash North American output by 3.7% to 1.2 million vehicles in the second quarter.

I'm with you on that Jason. I have a '97 GP GT as a daily driver, and I love the looks and performance it gives me for a 4 door sedan (wish I had a GTP though.) Anyways, I, like you, want to love the new GP's, but based on the looks and interior, I just can't. Depending what happens for me interms of buying a house, I'll probably be in the marker for a new car. Maybe I'll swing on by to you when the Solstice GXP (GTP?) coms out.

I loved mine too, great car. If it had a V8 and was RWD I would never have bought the '00 Camaro. (hmm..that sounds a lot like the GTO ) Actually if the GTO had the trunk/back seat pass though and at least the same fuel economy as an Automatic LS1 f-body I would have bought one even though I really needed the truck.

As for the Ford GT, I wonder if that has to do with the end of its production run or that the prices of the GT are coming down to a sane level. I hear one of the GTs in southern Va is going for roght around sticker.
I think it's because dealer rip-offs have mostly ended (1 dealer had the ***** to call Jay Leno to offer him a so-called hard to get Ford GT for $450,000 without reading his newsletter that Leno had gotten the 1st GT made....at list)

I also belive production has gone up to meet demand since last year as well.

I know someone who got one yesterday. So add 24% to that.
