Mark Reuss speaking about a pony car on the radio
Re: Mark Reuss speaking about a pony car on the radio
I agree, however, in a pure context, there is ALWAYS something interesting at the NAIAS.
Do I personally think it will be something called a Camaro? No. It might be a RWD coupe, but I don't think it will be called Camaro. That might even by what it is, but I don't think that's what it will be called.

It might not have the name, but if it *is* the Camaro concept, we'll be able to tell. From what I've been told by a few Chevy designers, "it's all Camaro, ...it's all Camaro."

Here is a thought,
If GM has a concept at NAIAS that looks like a Camaro but is not called Camaro,
What does GM gain in that?
Seems to me if they call it Camaro it would bring more hype.

Re: Mark Reuss speaking about a pony car on the radio
I guess I am burned out with concepts. Heck, I have skipped the NAIAS the last year or so. The last one I went to was when they showed the new Vette.
I just can't get excited over these concepts that rarely make it to market and when they do, it is 3 or 4 years down the line and they rarely look like the concept.
The Cadillac Evoq. We get the XLR(Awesome car, but compared to the concept....)The GTO conept.......(Awesome, what do we end up with......?)The Rageous, The SS, The Bengal......
I guess I am just pretty jaded over the whole thing.
I would prefer if they just did like they did with the Vette. Keep it under wraps and then show it in production form.

I guess my question is, How will you feel if there is some awesome concept that is even named Camaro and then 3 years later, some watered down Camaro comes out?

I would look something like this:

Alas, that's my point and what I have been getting at all along.
You would probably have the same answer, if I asked, What if the SS truly was a Camaro concept?

. I know that everyone "inside" is doing the best they can and yada yada, but can anyone honestly expect the vast majority of the enthusiast base to wait nearly a decade for a new car? It better be one hell of a ride when it does finally show up to the party
