Mark Reuss Considering a Retail Chevy Caprice?!
[Comment From Josh Oliver - TheGMSource Josh Oliver - TheGMSource : ]
Mr. Reuss - considering your love for performance vehicles and the publics desire for a REAR WHEEL DRIVE Chevrolet sedan, might you reconsider the Caprice program for retail sales?
Mark Reuss:
hey i am a free-thinker!!!!
Sounds like Mark might be doing some thinking of his own in regards to the Chevy Caprice making its way to the retail side.

i wouldn't call him a "Lutz clone" but the man is a serious car guy. And he was put to Holden for a bit - so he should love RWD V8's and Fosters beer. Also he should like the Holden qualities (ala good dynamics, steering, etc). He's already said that alpha's steering is going to be critical. Good stuff!
When I heard he was coming back to GMNA a while back, I was excited. We also now know Lutz liked a RWD Chevy sedan and Fritz did not. Fritz is now gone.
Leaving Lutz and Reuss, two huge car guys, in the upper tiers of GMNA. "Have Faith" indeed!

if nothing else they should build a specific cop car one with all the updates police would want.
It's amazing ford gets to sit back and laugh putting zero money in to ever changing the crown vic and gobbling up the profit while police agency's all over the US bought and loved them for years unchallenged.
Why no one else wants a piece of this pie I do not know.

Yeah..bring up Foster's to a Austrailian and you will either get a confused or disgusted look. No different that the fact that Outback serves basically American food with creole infulences.

well -- we are doing just that with the Caprice - moreover we sell a lot of Impalas for police work - no, they don't necessarily take the place of a crown vic -- but in winter areas (for urban use) the Impala serves its purpose with FWD.
As to a retail unit? A matter of how it fits into CAFE.
Reuss? Delighted that he's been promoted... -- a real car guy - a great engineer -- and believes in listening to the customer.
