The Malibu sells!
I haven't seen a single one on the road yet.
The only place I've seen them at al is at the dealership, and they've just been sitting in the same spots since they got them in. They must be selling much better in other areas of the country.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the new Malibu isn't being sold to fleet buyers and the classic is only being sold to fleets.
So this Jan Chevy sold 14,447 malibu's(04 Malibu + Classic) vs. 11,234 last year.

But to the degree that the new car takes the same "intermediate" slot in Chevy's lineup as the old one did, you are correct.
I saw my first Malibu Maxx over the weekend at a car show check out the pics. I thought it looked pretty sweet, you know for what it is. Goes to show you what a nice looking set of wheels can do for a car. This Malibu Maxx is stickered for around 27K

a couple of things to keep in mind.......the new Malibu is not at full "ramp up" speed yet.... new models are built at a slower rate because they're just that... a new model.....and to ensure quality, they are built at a lower line speed that is gradually increased as time goes on........
MAXX did not go into regular production until the 2nd or 3rd week of December....at a slower rate than Malibu.
The "old" Malibu is now called "Classic" and is built for fleet only. (kinda like the Lumina went to fleet only once the Impala came out.)
Naturally, you're gonna see more Impalas out there! They've been in production for a couple of years!
