I know I used to work with someone who worked at the Fairfax plant here in KC. He said they have already run the Malibu down the line to test everything. If I remember right, production should start either this month or next.

I sure wish the Aura would get a 4cyl 6-speed. Looks WAY better than what I have seen Malibu wise so far.

I'd guess that the Aura will get the 6 speed eventually, but I think it's somewhat production constrained right now.

However, it is strange that the more upscale Aura gets a 4 speed and the "family" Malibu gets the 6 (albeit only in top LTZ guise).

GM's first woohoo!!!
Maybe so... I dunno if the 08 Accord (all new, coming out in a couple of months) will have a 6-speed auto or not, and if so, if it will also be a 6-speed auto on the 4-cylinder. And even if so - will it be out before or after the Malibu 6-speed auto 4-cyl?

Also do you consider a 6-speed auto 4-cyl to be superior to a CVT 4-cyl? They've been available for a while in a couple of cars in this class.

It is interesting to consider, though, that Lexus released Toyota's first US-sold 6-speed auto model into the market for the 2004 model year LS430. Benz had a 7-speed auto for some models around that time, too. Lots has propagated since then! Now the LS is at an 8-speed and everyone else is expecting a 6-speed as standard fare.

Exactly.
Aura does not have a 4cyl either. Anyone know of the Aura possibly getting one in the future?

Who cares who's first to market with it, what's important for GM is that the damn thing gets the six speed!

They're still neglecting the trucks and SUV's..........

(except the Denali and Caddy lines)

The Aura does have the 2.4 for 2008 - with a 4 speed automatic.
