The natural starting point, and the question that has fueled a hundred online bulletin board discussions, is will there be a fifth-generation Camaro? "We'd be absolutely crazy to let the Camaro name die," explained a well-placed General Motors source. "But unlike Ford with the Thunderbird of a few years ago, we just don't have a new Camaro ready to slam into the breech."

A source close to the program claims that an evolutionary strategy is carrying the most momentum. He indicates that bolder, more dynamic styling in a more tightly designed package is on the drawing board.
Another important engineering consideration is the type of rear axle. Sigma provides an independent rear suspension, but we do not expect this to be used on the Camaro for cost savings and product differentiation. An independent axle offers large benefits in terms of ride and handling and increased interior room. But there are weight, tire wear, and reliability issues with a rear-drive, independent system -- particularly if a tire-frying powertrain is adopted.
Whether evolutionary or heritage in direction, we anticipate a fifth-generation Camaro that will push the legendary marque's performance and liveability to new levels.

Don't know which part of that has been updated from 2001....it all looks like the same un-updated version to me.
Most of us...here...know more about Camaro, than Motor Trend does.
I'm not kidding.

It this story that leads me to believe that LSD is the drug of choice at Motor Trend.

The part that suggests that the Camaro should be a re-bodied SSr is priceless.
Are these guys just simply not into Camaros....or are they just clueless.

First of all, I'm not competing to BE the latest, grestest Camaro news reporter...I saw some interesting comments,(that btw go right along with what RP had said..) and thought it might boost some moral...
Did I say it was new??..but it is interesting, and at least it's about a 5th Gen, not some off topics like we've been seeing lately...so don't be so senical, huh?..

Another example why Motor Trend's Future vehicle's editor is the laziest future vehicle editor on the planet.
I've proven him wrong twice already, and his reaction was to steal one of my posts at that site to use in the magazine.
