From reading the replies on C&G , I say nope to Lacrosse and Lucerne . The Pontiac G6 hardtop woulda made the most logical dose of steroids over a special edition of either of those 2 . That car shouldnt be a Pontiac , it shoulda been a Buick . The Velite showcars front styling and rear styling coulda meshed WELL with the bodywork , splice in a luxurious buick interior , 3.9 standard with 18" versions of the Velites Multispoke wheels . Tell me that wouldnt have been a sweet ride . For the steriod injection , and a touch of nostalgia , a Turbocharged 3.9 accompanying GS badges woulda slapped the icing on the cake . I think it woulda sold better than the G6 is going to as well , by virtue of exclusive styling . Remeber all the Sebring verts that did not carry the styling of the Sebring coupe or 4 door and sold VERY well .

That sounds like a winner to me.

I think he's prepping us for the LaCrosse Super.

I agree though. Someone needs to offer a serious performance effort with an Epsilon coupe. If Pontiac won't/can't, Buick should.

Here's what Bob Lutz, Head of Product Development at GM, said about Buick: 'I think every division should have a performance car-even Buick, though at Buick it wouldn't be a pony car.'

Yeah, I couldn't agree more Mr. Lutz.

I agree that even Buick should have a performance car, though more of a lux oriented performance car. There is a market for those, as we've seen. If they worked on it really hard they could even market it to compete with the Lexus GS350/450H/460

What about "Velite"??
Lacrosse with a V8 would be good too, but a Velite with a Supercharged V6, or shoe-horned Ls motor..

Seriously though, something to compete against the Avalon or ES350 from Lexus would be nice. Quiet, smooth ride that has a touch of sportiness to it with plenty of smooth power under the hood.

Cadillac has gone German hunting, Buick should step up with the classic American car theme: big, powerful, and quiet.

I just do not see a LaCrosse being able to compete with Lexus in any way. Even if it were deemed a Super.....A packaged properly Lucerne could easily compete.

Hopefully it will be one of Holdens SV cars transplanted as a Buick. Now that would be pretty sick!

I think a LaCrosse Ultra as a Impala SS/GP GXP clone is redundant. Almost as redundant as the Torrent and G5. If it can't be some sort of unique Epsilon or maybe a suped up Lucerne, it's redundant.
