Enjoy them while you can. When CAFE hits, they won't last long.

I believe these are aftermarket and not installed on the line but at the dealership just like the Toyota Tundra and Tacoma supercharger kits are. Therefore they shouldn't have any inpact on the manufacturers meeting epa standards, unless the feds decide to screw over the aftermarket community with laws targeting devices that degrade mpg fro the factory standards. It's probably coming one day soon with this nanny state we have.

Article said it was a factory option. That would effect CAFE. Dealer installed doesn't effect CAFE. It might be the way that part of it goes.

Insert Vin Diesel/ Paul walker Fast and Furious Ferrari scene. It's probably gonna be a scary number, Dodge seems to overinflate their prices worse than everyone else. Having said that I will most likely clean out savings, plasma, next born in order to obtain one.

the SRT8 already get terrible gas mileage. Adding a blower... single digit MPG's.

rock on dodge, rock on

I seriously doubt SRT8 owners have gas mileage anywhere near the top of their priority list when buying the car .

The SRT8 vehicles are the only cars that interest me. The SRT8 Challenger is so sexy while the R/T is just so...meh to me.

The sole reason a Charger R/T does not sit in my garage right now, is dodge refuses to give it a proper 6-speed manual it deserves. That 5-spd auto they've had forever is garbage. It really a shame, because that 5.7l they have is a great engine.

I'm questioning the 8 speed transmission part as part of the blower package?

I think it's the only way. The 5 speed would be impossible to get it to

1) Go as fast as it should, or as fast as the competition

2) Have a gas mileage that is at least sensible. The current charger SRT8 is 13/18 which is just horrendous. Adding a blower could mean single digit MPG's and I can't imagine the gas tax for that.

The merc based 5 speed auto is actually a very robust and dependable tranny, it can handle a good amount of power and is proven. After riding in cars with lots of gears I actually prefer fewer, modern electronics and mpg requirements force the trannies to hit the highest gear possible in the least amount of time so anything under half throttle and you're in 5th or 6th gear these days and a 2 second wait for it to kick down, annoying.
