They've sold those (or its predecessor) in Oz for a long time. I don't know about the LS1, but they're a very common work truck.

ive said it before and ill say it again. if you want a ca get a car. if you want a truck get a truck. if you want a car like ride with the ability to haul stuff get a damn minivan. DO NOT cross breed a car with a truck. it just dont work.

to the el camino
to the ranchero
to the brat
to all of their off spring.

thats HIDEOUS just like every other bastardized car/truck thing.

If anyone would bother to read the OTHER GM websites, you would have seen that a long time ago.

I'm sure it will sell decently in Oz.

And actually, it DOES work. The Elky was around in the states for about 30 years.

Nothing new there. These versions of the Commodore and Falcon (yes, Falcon) are the only trucks made in Australia. Ther rest are either imported, or transplants from elsewhere.

I tend to disagree with your statement about the El Camino and the Ranchero. Not disagreeing about the Brat, though!

If they didn't work, why were they being made for so long. They must've been popular and useful in many uses. And they were.

Time just wasn't right for them anymore (read: fullsize trucks became more popular).

Later!

Do a search on google or yahoo and you'll find that one tonners are quite popular downunder. There are one tonner clubs and they are even used in drag racing.

Check out HSV.COM.AU then check out the Maloo and you tell me that is ugly...

Or check out the standard SS Ute....also car like ride and minivan aint in the same sentence..

OH WELL.....with what I have sitting here ready to go in it....they can keep the SS badge...

Lets see....

436" LS6.
Manual T400.
Ladder Bar 9" with spooled Centre.
Coil over rear-got some Koni's kicking around from an old project.
15x12 Draglights for the rear-31" slicks
I think you get the idea......

For those that may need something a bit clearer:

These things START at under $14,000 US!!

You can get an LS1, 6 speed in these things at a price that STARTS at $18,000!!!

They also have a perfect for drag racing solid axle.

Now.... does everyone understand their popularity??
