Local Pontiac Dealer has an '04 Grand Prix
I saw the brand new '04 Grand Prix at a local Pontiac Dealer. It is a Black GT (which is now the base model). It looks much better in real life than in the photos that I saw in Car & Driver Magazine this month. Though I believe I like the styling better on the previous model GTP, it is more aggressive looking. The wheels look horrible they look very out-dated, like something that would have been on a early 90s Grand AM or Sunbird.
Over all I like the new Grand Prix, though I am waiting to see a GTP or the new top of the line model the GTP Competition Group (cool name
) to make my final desision on the styling. On a sad note, which I am sure everyone is already aware of is there isn't a 2-door coupe available in the redesigned Grand Prix.

The lack of a coupe would seem to reinforce the fact that the GTO is going to attempt to move in and satisfy that segment.
As the pontiac website says, and I think rightfully so, the 4-door looks pretty much like a coupe anyway from a distance, so it's likely to attract a good chunk of people who would want a 2-door. Are there even any people left who need a 2-dr GP specifically anyway? Many of them I'm sure would settle for a loaded two-door Grand Am (lower) or GTO (higher/similar)
I agree about the base GP wheels though. the wheels I've seen look like they came off a 1991 minivan or something. totally yawn-inducing and granny-like. If that's "fuel for the soul", it must be 73-octane or something. The wheels they were showing on the G-Force are way more appropriate, albeit maybe in a lower diameter. Or at least the GXP series wheels, come on PMD.

I think the 04 looks great in person.
I think they should have built a 2-door at least until the RWD 07 comes out. Yes a lot of GTP coupe fans will go to the GTO, but what about the people that want a $25K V6 coupe. I see a lot of Grand Prix coupes on the street and think it is a miskate to not have a lower priced large coupe in the pontiac line up.

my dealer got a '04 black GT in and it is gorgeous,i love the styling and i would buy one in a second if i needed a family car,i'd take a GTP in that orange color.the car looks mean, too bad the GTO doesn't look as good.

Then again, with the next Grand Am being both a coupe & FWD, you may be right.
