I dunno but I can only imagine it would be with the SS/SRT10/etc

The lightning was the innovator in the sport truck realm... just not right that it's not here in the prime of the sport truck era.

last I heard, that motor got canned. Sure would have been nice to see it in the Lightning with a S/C.

Yes, Hurricane was canned.

Re: Is Lightning Back On??

The only SVT truck on the horizon is the Explorer Sport Trac based version. Supposedly with the last edition Cobra engine, but SVT isn't one to go to used powerplants. Wouldn't be surprised if it used GT500's engine instead.

A new Lightning was canceled during development because it was far too heavy, and in order to make it perform the way SVT wanted, it supposedly used a godawful amount of fuel. One of John Coletti's last goals was supposedly trying to take weight out of the Lightning.

IMHO, Ford Lightning has a lot of name equity and street cred, and it would be a shame if Ford let it go.

I'd argue that. I'd place the evolutionary marker at the Silverado SS454, Cyclone and Syclone.

Maybe this is for "high torque situations." All I can really say is that a somewhat similar engine has been used on F-serie before.

Well, the Syclone was first (did you mean Syclone and Typhoon? Instead of Cyclone and Syclone? ). But I believe the first gen Lightning (with a 240 hp 5.8L), which was on the F150 of 2 generations back, was out before (or at the same time as) the 454SS (SS had a a bit less peak power IIRC, but made MONSTER torque). They were about equal in a straight line, but the Lightning was the better handler, IIRC (17" wheels, etc.).

But yes, the Cyclone was before both. However, it was very limited in volume and "truck" abilities, and was discontinued. The Lightning was more at the forefront of the modern "performance truck", particularly since for whatever reason, the focus has been on full sizes.

V10 guys. He is tropping the hints. Would this be the 5.4 Twin screw GT motors replacement? GR1 anybody?

Actually you might see the Camaro before you see the SVT and the V10 does not appear to be in the plan. The old Lightning formula seems to be the direction.

Maybe it won't be used in a Lightning then.

There is a V10 but the SVT is to use the SCV8. HP figures are impressive!

I would be interested to see the weight differences between the V10 and SCV8. I bet they are pretty comparable.

Btw, how did the old V10's sound? I don't think I've ever heard one.
