lets make statements
based on what everyone knows and what i am picking up.
the base camaro will get a 6.2 L engine and the highend version will get a detuned ls7 is this correct?
or, will the base get a detuned ls2 and the high end get a 6.2?
also has anyone seen these lights?

i can see them being used in the 5th gen.

Re: lets make statements
I wish the base Camaro would get the 6.2
I doubt we'll ever see the LS7 unless its some extremely high end model, which everyone here seems to think the Camaro won't get any kind of high end model so so much with that. LS2 or the 6.2 will probably be our most powerful Camaro.

Re: lets make statements
The 6.2 will likely be the top model's engine, hopefully the Z28. The only way I see the LS7 getting into a Camaro is if there is an extremely low special production ZL1, which of course would be great and really expensive. But if I were GM I'd do it for the car's history and to create excitement. (and to take out any and all competitors)
I hope those headlights or anything like them are never on a Camaro.

Re: lets make statements
I don't think we'll get much difference than before, we'll have the base V6 with a bump in power from the 4thgens, we'll have a 390-400hp 6.0 LS2 in the Z28, and a mild bump in the SS with more or less the same LS2 as the Z28. I don't know where you guys get the idea the Z28 will be the top model over the SS, when has it ever been?
I could see the 6.2 liter replacing the 6.0 after a year or two to keep up interest... I really don't think we'll see even 2 different V8 options per year in the Camaro, much less 3...

Re: lets make statements
Lets not start this again. Search Z28 vs. SS and the like so we don't have to repost it all. BTW, the 4th Gen's formula didn't work and wasn't true to either designation. It was more of a good way to make money and to try and reuse a name from way back, like a sales ploy. True Camaro special performance has been/is Z28.

Re: lets make statements
Aye, the Z28 has always been the race car....but lets not get into that.
As far as engines, Id like to see IntimidatorSS set up, but the LS7 motor will probably be more of an aftermarket development done by Berger or something. Im sure it could be done if someone wanted it to be done.
Having 3 V8's is a lot...alot since the last time we had that was somewhere in the mid 80's!

To the poster:
Both sides will claim historical revisionism. The Z28 crowd will claim the first-gen Z28's were the cat's meow on a road course, and the SS crowd will point out the fact that the 375hp SS 396's were quicker in the quarter mile.
Blah, blah, blah, ad infinitum...
Rest assured, Chevy will pick which ends up where if/when the next generation ever appears. The we'll know. Otherwise, it's just a bunch of folks arguing about the future of a car most of them will never buy anyway...
I'm moving up to a Vette (major SS proponent), IZ28 owns a 3rd gen for Pete's sake (of which the IROC's were the quickest, and Z28 was second tier).
Move along, nothing to see here.

Re: lets make statements
The GTO by the time the new Camaro comes along will have become "the" desirable car to have , pony car or not... with the camaro as the side-dish, if it ever eventuates. All concentrations are on the GTO, with a smaller version of it becoming the Camaro or Torana depending.
The muscle car will come into favour over the "pony car"

Frankly, to me, the thought of slapping a Camaro emblem on a car which is not a Camaro....is not something I'd like to see. I'd rather see it stay dead.
Do it right, or don't do it.

Re: lets make statements
I don't believe we are in danger of having Camaro slapped on some car that doesn't look like it, we are in danger of having a car that looks like Camaro, but wearing a different name.
