I wonder if the Z06 pace car would win the race? The Solstice sounds sweet! Can't wait to see them, and Jan 9 is getting closer.

So should they restrict the turbo Ecotec to the more uplevel brands, or should they kill the SC Ecotec and replace it witht eh turbo variant across the board?

Would that be the only DI engine that would meet emmission standards for the stricter states? I know the current motor in the TT doesn't, not sure about the Lexus IS.

The Isuzu 3.5 did for a number of years. My guess on the Audi is that the turbos lower the effeciency of the cats and that makes emissions worse. That is one major problem of turbo engines, reduced exhaust temp when the gas reaches the cats, makes it harder to light off the reactions.

Re: LAIAS 2005 Announcment

The current motor in the TT is not the new direct injection 2.0L turbo. It is the old 1.8T, and it wasn't a direct injection motor. The new motor passes emissions. Another direct injection turbo that passes emissions is the 2.3L in the new Mazdaspeed 6. The direct injection V12 from BMW does as well.

This may need its own thread soon!

Instead of just setting a "steady pace" on the track, they should throw some sticky tires on that bad boy and really "set the pace" . Jeff Gordon sure seemed comfortable in that Z06 on "Test Drive" a couple weeks ago! Maybe he'd trade his race car for one?

Any guesses for the Solstice GXP? I've read 253HP before, but that was months and months ago.

I believe it will be higher than that, though not necessarily huge gobs higher.
