Kerkorian urges GM to consider partnersip with Renault/Nissan.
Re: Kerkorian urges GM to consider partnersip with Renault/Nissan.
I can't see what the synergies might be? We've moved on from acquisitions... we've yet to see cost savings in increased procurement and we've yet to see real examples of technology sharing.
The 3 companies couldn't be more different. I'm not saying it won't work, I'm just saying that it hasn't yet worked.

I think that's the point. As a business other companies shouldn't be able to see your next move. One should lead the trend, not follow it. Like I said, interesting.

Re: Kerkorian urges GM to consider partnersip with Renault/Nissan.
If the rape of GM by Fiat to the tune of $4B, hadn't netted a partnership in an advanced diesel engine, I might see a reason for a Renault tie-up.
Frankly, I can't see a reason for Renault to have influence over GM's future decision making process.
Interesting, but tread carefully.

Bad JuJu. That would make no sense. Nissan and Infiniti already compete with GM core brands in the US. In Europe Renault competes with SAAB, Opel/Vauxhall, and in the future may compete with Caddy Europe. I am sorry GM has enough internal competition it doesn't need anymore. I would think York could explain this one away just talking to Kerkorian.

Ghosn has a hard-on for turning around companies, but we dont know if he can sustain the positive momentium. Maybe he doesnt know either, and wants to get back to what he's good at. I see him and Wagoner butting heads way too much for anything productive to get done.

All the talk has made GM's stock go up for sure...
Currently they are JUST above 30 dollars a share. Up about $2.50 a share, or about 10%.
