Just food for thought.. or however that saying goes
Since they would never kill the Corvette, Why not move the it more upmarket for the sake of other brands? It seems "halo" cars for brands can't be fast enough, or "good" enough because it might be make for a better sports car than the precious Corvette. Is it really smart having 1 car hold down cars from 4 other brands?
The general reaction to the Buick GNX drawing that surfaced a week or so ago was generally well accepted, even liked among the current GNX owners. But it seems nothing like that would ever get produced because of the Vette.
GM needs to get serious with their Halo, because those are the kind of cars that bring people into the dealerships to buy other cars.
What do you all think?

That Corvette rule has been pretty well debunked a whole lot of times. Plenty of cars have been faster than the 'vette through the years. There's another car riding on the 'vette platform. The 'vette sells great because it's awesome value, moving it upmarket would turn it into more of a niche vehicle like a Viper.

I think the policy needs to go. Moving the Vette upmarket would be a bad idea - why ruin a formula that's worked incredibly well for over 50 years? It's ridiculous though that a car can't be faster than the Vette. People who buy Corvettes buy them because they like that particular car, not because it's faster than a Camaro or a GTO. They are different cars with different purposes.

Not only has the corvette rule been disproven... But you really don't need more than one corvette now more than ever. The XLR takes care of anymarket about, Solstice and Sky for smaller and cheaper...
A turbo v6 GNX faster than a vette or not really wouldn't compete with corvette at all... two different animals.
