I'm surprised Q from James Bond never thought of it.

Ok, so you don't get hurt from hitting the hood so hard.....

...but you still have a broken leg from the front bumper.

Good idea? Yes, but incompletely executed I'd say.

That hood shooting up isnt going to stop anything... it will act like a ramp shooting you over the car and kill you behind the car instead of on it.

sounds like a good idea

It won't be long before we build airbags into telephone poles, and people who drive into trees start suing the city/state/country because they ran into a tree that wasn't wrapped in 5 inches of bubble wrap.

Now I'll have to put it in reverse and back over em to make sure there are no witnesses.

120 man YEARS of development. No wonder Jag is in trouble. Its gotta be a European thing because I think the chances of hitting someone in the US are pretty low..knock on wood.

Common sense failed long, long ago.

I don't understand why a lot of you are comparing something like this to common sense anyway. A lot of times people just simply "f*ck up," that is what we do as humans...we f*ck up a lot. I don't see any problem in technology padding the consequences of our mistakes.

I wonder how much this system costs. I bet it's not cheap.

I guess the next step is to make softer pavement.

So when do you say when? Maybe you wouldn't mind paying an extra $2k for a Camaro to have this feature?

I think the deer around here could stand to be wrapped in 5 inches of bubble wrap. Maybe even more.

I agree and disagree.

Limit Cell Phone Use, Enforce "City" Speed Limits More, Create "Overhead" Crosswalks at busy intersections...

There's lots of things that would be much more benificial then a freaking jumbo spring board on the hood of a car.

Smart One there FORD!!!
