I'll give him credit, that reporter drilled him and took him to task on quite a few things and Mooney hung tight through the entire interview. Man did that journalist hit him hard.

I'm surprised we don't have many comments here.

Doesn't look like Monaro's around the corner.

Strange thing is that it seems like not all that long ago Holden was the golden child of GM. Now, Holden seems to be getting the semi-typical GM neglect treatment and badge engineered cars like we get. Or, perhaps it is all just a slow turn over period for new models.

Hate to see Toyota doing well in Australia when there is a very interesting GM division down under.

I just finished reading that, that guy was drilling mooney. He did seem to stick to his guns, but in text you cant truely feal the response's core's.

I'm sure the next 24 months will weild brighter times for all large automotive makers.

And that doesn't bode too well for the GTO either. Seeing that the Monaro is put on hold, and GM doesn't currently have a platform to build the GTO here, I wonder what Pontiac's flagship could be in the next few coming years? A rebadged GTO-Camaro, or something else?

It may be more cost effective to build a car in Korea, but I really hate seeing all of these Korean cars for sale in Chevy dealerships all over the world. It is not what I think of when I think of Chevy.

Let's just say the journo is well respected here, Josh, unlike a lot of US journalists who tend to favour imports and cast negative aspersions on anything GM, Ford, DC... and that's without having test driven any of their vehicles.

One thing you could say about the interview is that Denny is a straight-shooter, and I admire that. Rarely you'd get any CEO talking about a future product (VE).

Z284ever, although Monaro mightn't be around the corner, there's still some great products coming. I think the sooner the mainstream vehicles are introduced, it makes the wait for Monaro, GTO and even Camaro all the more bearable.

It just confirms, even more to me, that the '06 GTO will be the last one for a long time.....if ever.

Which just makes me wonder even more, what will Pontiac's new flagship be? Obviously this will cause speculations of a future Firebird from many people, but what else is in the pipeline at Pontiac that could be a halo car? The only thing I can sort of see is maybe a new rwd v8 sedan, but that just doesn't seem like a halo car to me.

Re: Interview with Denny Mooney

The Solstice is a $20k roadster, and although I am sure it is fun to drive, I don't think it will cut it as the extent of Pontiac performance. How would that affect some of the motorsports Pontiac regularly participates in as well?

Re: Interview with Denny Mooney

i think GM might be looking down other roads with the GTO right now. look how the car is doing on the road courses. why bother putting up the sponsorship on a car you're gonna kill after next year?

Re: Interview with Denny Mooney

The only way the Solstice would become Pontiac's "Halo" performance car is certainly not with a 4 cylinder, NA or Turbocharged. Now if the top of the line Solstice had a V8.

Solstice - NA 4 cylinder
Solstice GT - Turbo 4 cylinder
Solstice GXP - Turbo 4 Cylinder, body, chassis and interior enhancements
Solstice GTO - 5.3L 303HP

That halo must have been well hidden over the Mazda Miata...

There is no RWD, V8, sedan currently on the Pontiac docket.
