Interesting XLR article

Right down to what pieces are shared with the 2005 Corvette.

A 3650 lb XLR complete with a folding hard top bodes well for the C6 coupe's final weight.

it says that the 5.7 will still be the powerplant for the vette.. I thought they would be doing away with that displacement

Also, doesn't the DOHC engine weigh more?

Yep, I've heard anywhere from 45-75 lbs. more and the 5 speed auto is going to be considerably heavier than the Corvette manual.

I was a bit surprised to see the 5.7 in the article as well. Maybe they are just wrong.

You gotta figure the top and its mechanism is a good 250 lbs, 75 for the engine and another 75 for the extra tranny weight, then probably 100 lbs of sound deadening and other Cadillac junk. I know the SLK500 is a really heavy car. A 3100-3200 C6 sounds right.
