Lightbulb Interesting quote about an unapproved new car...

http://www.autoweek.com/cat_content...._code=06449018

GM hopes to solve the problem by introducing entry-level cars on its global Delta architecture, probably for the 2005 model year. But that program has not been approved.
Just a little interesting nugget in there... If an unapproved car on the Delta platform can still be produced and ready for MY2005... why couldn't an unapproved Sigma product do the same?

Something to think about for all the "No Camaro is even possible until 2006-7 now" people...

IMO the Camaro might be back faster than many think. Look how fast they are being with the GTO, more commonly know as the Grand GTO.

Say what you want...I am pretty sure where I got 2006-07 from had a VERY firm grasp on what is going on.

I think the cty of St, theresa and the local UAW might have something to say about a 2005 camaro built somewhere other than their city.

I don't think they can say anything... because even though it would share the name Camaro, it would be a new car.

Kindof like when they moved the Camaro from Van Nuys, CA to St. Therese back in 93.

However, GTO is basically a car that was already in production.

More commonly known as the Grand GTO? Who's making it common? Certainly not this board. The 7 or 8 of you are the only people calling the GTO that. That certainly doesn't make it common.

Did somebody say something about that new car, What's it called?... Oh yeah, the Grand GTO?

Because Camaros don't sell like Cavaliers and that's what will be on the Delta platform. It's more urgent. Not to mention the would be team is working on the C6 right now.

"Grand Prix GTO" in the vain of Tempest GTO makes more sense than "Grand GTO". That just sounds like you're calling the new GTO great!

Well, I wasn't talking as a matter of priority... more in a matter of "if they want to do it, it can be done".

Also, I wonder how much of a priority Cavalier is anyway... it's been in it's current generation since 95. It , too, is overdue for a change, and we know a mojor change is at least a few years away now that GM invested in a slight exterior re-do for Cavalier & Sunfire.

As for the Camaro team being tied up in the C6... well, ya gotta figure most of the C6 is in the can, design wise anyway... I'm sure the preliminary work on Camaro could be started at any time... if they want to.

Well I think if you are going to make fun of the GTO's similarity to the GP, you should at least come up with something with a ring to it, like GPO.
