I haven't heard anything comparing the SS to the 9C1 yet. I'd say going on the past 9C1 vs. SS, the 9C1 would probably have a slightly stiffer suspension setup, the 9C1 is still using 16" wheels vs. the SS 18 inchers. The '06 9C1s that I drove had Pirelli tires, which is a first for a Chevrolet Police Pkg., and they offered excellent grip.
We have several '06 Impala 9C1s on order and should be in soon.

everyone keeps saying they cant feel the DOD switch, but i cant help but wonder if it might be masked by the torque converter. is it going to be annoying to people with a clutch?

I don't believe so, because when you're going through the gears, it would still be in 8 cyl mode. Under any kind of real acceleration it runs on 8 cyls, so I think if you were getting up to speed, you would be in 8 until your speed and throttle position leveled off. How it would handle downshifting, I don't know, but if you gassed it to match revs, I would imagine it would kick 8 back on if it were in 4, and it can do that instantly. It really is something, I've almost wandered over into the wrong lane a few times just watching the DIC mode trying to anticipate/feel when it switches. I can anticipate when it's going to happen now, but no tactile sense of it at all when it happens.

I like the interior too. It looks very well laid out, and it looks good.

Well, when I talk about HT, I'm not really into the huge screens and projector setups. They're nice, but compromise the room too much. I consider HT to be a Dolby Digital audio setup with a decent TV...a little different than the projectors that have become more popular in recent years. For now I am stuck with a decent-but-small 32" Sony Vega (will upgrade to an LCD in a couple years when I can get a 40+" for $1k...it'll happen!!), Denon 7.1 receiver set up for 5 channels, with Polk RTi10 towers in the front, Polk RTi bookshelfs for the rear, a Polk CC and a PSW505 300 watt RMS sub. I think for $2k (retailed around $2,700 total, ignoring the cost of the TV) its a good setup, but by utilizing the retailers' one year speaker trade-up policy (bring your stuff back in the boxes they came in, and get 100% of what you paid towards a better speaker) I will upgrade the CC and the rears. I'll probably end up spending an additional $500 or so for those 2 upgrades. When I get the LCD, then I'll get real serious about the receiver. Its decent, but I'm a hardcore audiophile, so for me personally its lacking. I have my Carver 200x2 running the LF and RF, with the receiver's amp (80w/ch) powering the CC and rears. Surprisingly, its quite balanced in surround mode, and for music listening, I still get that great Carver sound However, in the long run the receiver will be put in a bedroom as a stereo-only receiver, and I'll upgrade to separates for my main setup...something like a Rotel 100x5 amp with a Rotel preamp/Dolby Digital processor. That will cost around $2k alone...far more than the $270 I paid on the receiver (on sale from $500). But, you cannot touch separates, and the speakers will really come alive then
