Cool I'm Proud of GM Today

I've always noticed that as far as GM commercials go, they've always seemed to be kinda lackluster when compared to say, Dodge or Toyota. (Cobalt commercials aside) This, IMO, is one contributer to the overwhelming lack of information and ignorance of most people I encounter when it comes to domestic brands. For instance, the Toyota Tundra commercials. They generally feature a very gruff, very good ol' boy voice describing how the Tundra is by far "the choice manly truckers should have." Obviously trying to paint their pretty boy truck into something a construction worker/farmer/good ol' boy would want. Personally, I would never buy a Japanese brand's truck. Ever. Thats an American thing that should be build by an American brand, IMO. But others are more easily convinced than me and may actually switch brands based on these commercials.

However, anyone watching the NFL playoffs (may have been around longer...dont watch much T.V.) probably saw a bit of a change in Chevy's advertising... Something thats going to catch the eye of the "average Joe." You know...the people that dont know anything about vehicles.

The commercials I'm referring to are the ones with Howie Long basically poking fun at people that bought other brands of trucks. The two in particular I saw were the ones directed at Tundra and new Ram buyers. I wont spoil it for anyone, but it basically poked fun at these two brands commercials (The voice of the Toyota guy and the "luxury truck" Dodge). To the point I was literally laughing out loud.

To me this shows a change of direction from their normal repetitive boring commercials, to something thats going to be fun and educate the public at the same time. I cant wait to see what they come out with next.

Oh, I tried for a bit but couldnt find any of these commercials online to post. If anyone has a link, please post so y'all can see what I'm talking about.

Edit: Wow...looked for a long time to see if I could find them. All I found was A LOT of hate on Howie Long and Chevy due to these commercials. Then again most of it was attacking them for being "insensitive" or "mean spirited." You'd think truck buyers would have thicker skin...

I think it's the right direction. GM should be proud of what they have and name competitors names. Call everyone out. Especially the truck guys. Alot of them are sheep and buy for various reasons.

The Tundra commercials are crazy. Call those goofs out. I still think it's a nice truck but GM shouldn't be letting the car mag media do the talking.

I even support criticizing other Big Three members. These three need to compete with each other just as much as the foreign brands. Cut the crap product, everyone improves and the owners can be proud of what they bought.

I didn't think the Howie Long commercials were that good. I only saw the Dodge one though. I live in the North East and would love a heated steering wheel, in fact I'd take a heated wheel over 1mpg with how cheap gas prices are.

I think its pointing out the fact that truck brands are focusing WAY too much on accessories or luxuries over what makes a truck a truck. I cant remember what the comparison was ( i was laughing too much ) but it compared the heated steering wheel to a heated something mechanical on the Silverado.

And I live in Alaska and dont need no stinking heated steering wheel.
