GM, please, o please o please, don't make them not available on certain models (especially high performance models). Please. I'll buy two.

PS: Why stop with the chevy coupe... wouldn't it be kinda neat to offer them on some of the other models on the same platform?

Definitely. Either t-tops or a targa (preferablly - sp?) needs to be available on a new Camaro. A sunroof will not cut it after you've driven a car with t-tops and you've grown to love them.

"T-TOPS! T-TOPS! T-TOPS!"

Though, I question how they'll look with the quarter windows... :blah:

i think they'd be great on the camaro again, i love mine
but i agree with darth, how will they look with quarter windows?

but, i disagree that they should be on other chevy models
i think it's really more of a trademark to the camaro (excluding the c3's that had them) and it really identifies with camaro
just my .02

They put T-tops on Mustangs and Monte Carlos - both had quarter windows and they turned out fine.

I've heard that the engineers are saying it aint possible on Zeta.

They have then been told from up above..."Make it possible"

So not sure what to make of it...

You can have them body colored. That way it may look less out of place with the new design. Still, I personally prefer the glass top with the sunshades and i think it looks even better than the hardtop.

Just dont have a pillar between the door windows and quarter windows, and make the quarter windows roll down.

That could make for some LONG T-Panels!

I'd also have concerns about the quarter window sealing up properly to the main door window when up and it's raining, and ESPECIALLY the point where the door window, the quarter window, and the T-Top panel all meet...

yes, the camaro must have ttops as an option. That was one of the reasons my dad got the Camaro.

Interesting topic. I never though much about if the car had quarter windows. But then again, the car never did. Maybe they can make the car without them.

In the 70s, pretty much every coupe on the market had T-tops. Volares & Aspens, all GM personal coupes, Thunderbirds & Lincoln Mark IVs, even AMC Hornet AMXs.

In the 80s you could also get them on Dodge Daytonas, Fox Mustangs, Nissan Zs, Superas, and quite a few others.

Camaro and Firebirds are simply the last cars to have them, since targas & convertibles became popular.

I would also love to see T-tops return as well. As was noted earlier, the T-tops were available not only on Monte Carlos, but also Grand Prix, Cutlass and Regal - not to mention some non-GM marques - therefore, not a true feature of the Camaro - although they lasted longer as a feature on the F car than any other.

Some things we don't know are if the 3/4 windows are fixed or if they open and also how the B-pillar is treated. Is the car a true hardtop a la 1st gen and A, B-bodies of the time and therefore only have A and C-pillars? Or is the car a pillared coupe a la 78-88 G-bodies? The SS concept (rumored base of the Camaro) is pillarless therfore a true hardtop. This could affect the implementation of T-tops. A pillared coupe could (I believe, I could be wrong) support T-tops more readily than a true hardtop roofline. This might play into structural rigidity and rollover safety issues - although a low wide vehicle such as Camaro would be difficult to flip(?). I'm just throwing this out there since I haven't seen it mentioned.

If my new camaro doesnt have T-tops I'll feel like is is something missing. I really need them. When you live in minnesota and only drive your car 6 months out of the year, you need to enjoy all the summer and warmth you can.
