If one had to make an educated guess...

Didn't we just hear that even the widely known Solstice won't be out till 2006? And that's pretty much a completed car, compared to any prospective 5th gen. zzzzzzzzz I'm wondering why they even want to bother to try if it's going to be 06. By then Solstice import ripoffs will already be on the streets 1 or 2 years old. This also ties into the Camaro thing.. regardless of whether they have any progress now or not.. most people are guessing 06-07 on here. put me down for "too little too late". If they're working on anything now, they better put it out ASAMFP before they lose more undecided customers.
Unrelated; I was behind a gold Fiero GT today.. for a 15 year old car, it sure looks awesome, modern and futuristic among all the safety minivans and afraid-to-get-dirty SUV's crowding around it all trying to look tallest... I wish I could pinpoint where the beginning of the end of progress was for american car design. generally it was around 93-96.. does anyone agree? The end of the whale b-body in 96 was the fatal blow. it'll never be the same, 5th gen or not.
I also put blame directly on AMC/Jeep for initiating the SUV truck mileage exemption laws in the late 70s.

I'd venture a guess that we'll see a concept at the 2006 NAIAS with production in the fall of same year.......then a 40th Anniversary model comes out mid 2007......with a re-birth of the Z/28 debuting at the 2007 NAIAS with production in mid 2007 (some 40 years after it's birth).....................see what happens when I eat too many X-mas cookies! LOL!!
Just my little ol' $0.02 worth..........
