Lightbulb Idea for the Camaro gathering next Month “Must Read”

Just a random thought that crossed my mind today. Some of us on the board wont be able to make this trip and others at the show might not have a clue that a 5th gen is even being considered by GM right now. Red Planet wants input from the Camaro Community to make sure this next car is perfect. We also need to show GM that there is a market for this new car and we want it. To get to a point, my idea was to put together some sort of letter to send to GM. Like a mass produced letter that could be distributed on this web site and handed out at the NCM F-body gathering.

Basically a letter that says who you are, what you currently drive, why you’d like to see the Camaro return and what options you’d want to see on the next one. You get my idea. Just something that could be filled out easily at the show and sent to GM.

Does this seem like a good ideas or a waste of paper? I could type a rough draft out and post it if one of you would be interested in passing it out. I wont be able to make it, I will be stuck in Lubbock as a pledge in a fraternity.

GuionM said the GTO guys made a fuss about no hood scoop. They got it coming in 2005. Ok I know there are more hardcore Camaro guys in this country that want our car back a lot more then just a hood scoop. If we make a loud enough noise and not only say we want it back but tell them specifics then it will have to help our cause. Lets get together a few thousand letter and dump them on Bobby Lutz’s desk.

I don’t know Lutz’s mailing address, but I did find these.

Ok guys give me some input!

Sounds like a great idea. I wont be able to make it to the NCM F-Body gathering but this should be done. Also if it is possible to download or print out the letter from the computer I'm sure many including myself would like to fill it out and send it in.

Where would the best place be to send the letter? GM's Headquarters at the Ren. Cen. (if so I'll take it down there myself since its a 25 min drive from my house) or somewhere else?

I remember a long time ago on this site was a template addressed to GM, and I printed it signed it and sent it to GM to bring the beloved Camaro back. I don't think anyone at GM even cared about it and it probably went into the trash can right after. However with Lutz on board I think this may actually have a shot. I am still trying to make it out there but am not sure if I will

Anyway I would be glad to help out in any way that I can so count me in.

Ok I’m going to start brainstorming on how I think this letter should look. I’ll try to have a rough draft posted by late tonight.

I think this is a good idea and I’m pretty serious about this. Lets show GM that a year later we still love this car. This letter couldent hurt only help get a new car in the showroom.

Also if at all possible I’d like to get all the letters together after being filled out and send them in all at once. I’d really like to send them to someone high up and important. I’m not kidding when I say I’d like to see 5 mail bags full of Pro 5th gen letters from enthusiast all over the country piled up on Bob Lutz desk. I want to make an impact. But I’m going to need help with this.

If anyone has any in-put on how they think this letter should look, how we should distribute it, where to send it to make the most impact or if they would like to help at the show please post.

You can also email me at STARS1010@aol.com.

Thanks guys

Ok I couldn’t wait I went ahead and threw this together.
I was thinking something like this. Simple but to the point.

To whom this may Concern,

My name is ____________________ and I’m from ___________________________
I currently drive a______________________.

I would like to see General Motors Corporation develop a 5th Generation Camaro because___________________________________________ __________________________________________________ ________________________

I enjoyed these aspects of the 2002 Camaro:___________________________________________ __________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ ____________________

But I also believe a newly designed Camaro could improve upon the previous one by __________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ ____________________

This could kind of go along with PacerX post on targeting items that need to be addressed for the engineering of the 5th gen. However this could reach more people who aren’t connected to our site here. I think its great that PacerX plans on passing his info collect here on to Red Planet to help development. But I also think if we can put paper in front of the high up people at GM it could turn some heads. Get things rolling. I want GM to know this is a high priority.

The C5 was a struggle but was made a priority. If GM looks at the next Camaro like this then it cant go wrong.

Now some feedback…….

Looks good to me...

Looks fine to me. I think I can pass on the word to other people. I'm a member over at LS1.com and also fullsizechevy.com (<- they care about the car as much as we do) and other boards as well.. maybe we can ask permission from Jason to have a special link to it to help other non members as well. I'm pretty sure I can get most local folks here in on it too.

Thanks bud

We just need to figure out a simple way to package this so the letter can be easily filled out online, printed out, sent in or maybe emailed in. I'd rather have physical letters though.

Also would anyone volunteer to pass out and collect letters at the Show? I could make copies and send them to whoever. Once they get the feed back you could send them back to me in Lubbock and I'll send them into GM.

Better yet I wouldn’t mind having my address put out and everyone send the letters to me by a certain date. Then I could mail them all in to GM.

I can post it on www.mogmhp.com (Missouri GM High Performance) Used to be Missouri F-body association, but there was a bad cloud over the name and another MOFBA.

I think this would be a great idea.

I'm thinking corvetteforums <- not sure if they would be supportive but I think they wouldn't mind. PS (They hold more leverage with GM so it's worth a shot)
ls1tech.com
teamls1.com <- I'm not a member but know someone who is...
Htownracing.com
Southtexasracing.org
h-s-r-a.com
texasspeed.com
f-body.org
camaro-ss.com
slpeng.com

Those are all I can think of...

There should be two forms of the letter.
One for Camaro and one for Firebird.
Us Pontiac guys want our beloved Firebird to return as much and maybe more so than the Camaro camp.

I have a better idea.....put 'em together and bring 'em to Bowling Green and I'll take 'em with me back to Detroit. One caution.....please don't cuss.....tell us what you want....and why it is so important to bring the Camaro (and Firebird) back.....

PacerX has a great thread going, and I'm looking forward to his combined list when he gets it compiled.......

One other thing....if you wrote a letter about bringing the Fcar back, you can be assured I have it......if you could only see the pile of letters and emails I've received....but we can NEVER get too many.

(in case you didn't read my similar post on another thread.....it is important to write the letter with some thought. Some letters are really incredible...talking about how much the Fbody means to the writer...experiences....loyalty to GM, etc. Then there was the one that simply said (and I quote) "If you guys drop the Camaro, your gay!" -- please.......that letter implies something pretty negative......esp. about the writer.....so think it through...and send them on!)

Last thing...I did take the time to print off the entire contents of "Save the Fbody" from this site about two years ago....took a couple of nights and as I recall, the pile of papers (each page has about 2 - 5 posts) is about 1 and a half feet tall...if not higher.....

For those of us unable to make it and nowhere near Bowling Green, where shall we post/send these letters? What format, etc.?
