Since the absence of the Camaro, RWD's have exploded into the market, now just bringing it back won't be enough...
You have the Magnum/Charger to deal with...and these are selling pretty good, I see more and more of them on the roads every day.(Magnum's)
You also have the "HEMI" phenomenom...people are buying vehicles with HEMI's, b/c they can get one in it.
They need to get real serious about marketing and advertising, I see far more import commercials than domestic.
They're just gonna have to bring the whole package to the table or call it a night.
:Trendy engine "name" not RPO.(as Vortech, HEMI etc..)marketing..
:a 2, 4 door offering available as a wagon.(Chevelle/Nomad???)
:the Pony car worth waiting for...b/c we r-e-a-l-l-y waited.
:Style...and a big chrome bar isn't it...
I think people would like to see some of the monochromatic paint jobs broken up a little by some chrome/different colored accents. Who wants to spend $25k on a toy looking car??
Look to the past for "cues" on :colors(A BIG ONE), styling, cool features etc..
Today's colors, while better than a few years ago, leave much to be desired. We're all SICK of Forest-Green and Champagne/silver....They seem generic to ALLLLL cars on the Planet, just as it was in the days before the "Tucker"...That's one thing I loved about the IROC's when they came out, brilliant new colors that made you say WOWWW!
It's time to get "outside the box" in colors and style, big chances sometimes pay off BIG!...Real cars, not full scale toys....

I don't know for sure, but I'm kind of doubting that the ~100k people that have bought a 2005 Mustang this year are all "Mustang people." Think maybe there might be one or two of those "conquest sales" that we here about on this Forum in there some where?

We didn't have to be without our car for this long period of time, Ford should never have been given this opportunity to stick it in our faces, GM should never have stupidly decided that nobody wants cars like this.
Exactly.

To the doubters (BigBlueCruiser and others)....the defense rests.

NAIAS in January is gonna be some kinda show.

You're setting up a lot of milestones for GM to miss there.

Giving me way too much ammo.

If the cars aren't going to be in showrooms until mid-2007, I'd just as soon they skip the 2006 NAIAS and debut at the 2007 NAIAS instead. That way the publicity might actually help their launch instead of just giving everyone an 18-month case of blue *****.

What's your problem guy? This quote comes straight from the Car Connection...the same kind of organization that has "officially" announced the new Challenger. So, which is it? The news media is right when it comes to a new Challenger but wrong about any potentially hot new GM product? Who's the real "fanboy" here?

There might be a couple, but I'd say they are in the extreme minority. The only years that mustang sales had fallen below 100k was in 91 and 92 IIRC?? and I think the average was about 132k (eyeball math from 64 to present) a year. Anywhosit the introduction of the 79 model pushed 300k out the door, and the Fox 4 even sold over 200k at one point.

Thats why I say the market for the mustang was already there and on the surface I'd say there are basically 2 types of people, mustang people and camaro people and niether really wants to do something with the other (well except talk smack and race that is or play nice and social while thinking about the former) even if its the only game in town.

they already have the design for the previous F-Body... supposidly the new F-body will follow w/ the colorado rear end...

perhaps they have just been putting it together without anything being shown.

Ok. I agree that there is a well-established market (for the past 40+) years, but on the "only Mustang people buy Mustangs" line, you have no real data (only conjecture), nor do I, so I suppose we can just agree to disagree.

BTW....this Mustang person has owned 3 F-bodies and a Vette.

Re: I wake up every day knowing that I am spotting Ford 150,000 to 200,000 units a year.

this mustang person has owned two f-bodies (72 & 69) and they were fun cars, but even if GM had an 06, 07, etc. I wouldn't buy one new.

Then again if I may ask, would any of the former f-body and current mustang onwers switch to the DCX Challenger if it was brought to market and would soundly trounce the mustang in price and performance, Depsite lacking that intangible something that mustang seems to possess?
