But there is something very appealing about a rear-wheel-drive car, and it’s not lost on us. We have not at all abandoned our hopes and dreams for rear-wheel-drive passenger cars — we’ve just stopped work on one particular program. Does that mean there won’t be another and a better program to follow that one? No. Has the current trend toward nostalgia vehicles escaped us? No. Are we studying this phenomenon? Yes. That’s all there is to say about it at this time.
Re: I think Bob wants to say the "C" word.....
wait....bob "[is still] studying this phenomenon?" i would have thought they would have been doing something by now? i don't mean this to be rude, but if they are just now starting to think about maybe making a car that is possibly called the Camaro...they "might" be too late for the game.
"might"-sarcasm
edit: this would mean that they are gonna let the new mustang run it's course and take all sports car sells (well most of them). By the time GM makes a return, the sports car market will be shot...flooded with these older cars and there will be something else hip. GM needs to realize that the sports/muscle-car can be the new SUV market if done right. The GTO, if marketed properly could easily outsell the mustang, i mean easily. i'm sure with new body styling the next gen will be the car of the year, just remember that families and car enthusiasts will be getting these. Dad wants a quick car, mom wants room for the kids. quiet cruising, load at WOT, with this whole displacement on demand thing, you'd think there would be a plane old sports car setting, hit a button and it turns off traction control, adjust the fuel management and computer for more power, maybe a different shift point for autos, etc. the Mustang should be miles behind the GTO but it isn't. lets hit the books and get this one right.

Ok, does this mean that the possible camaro program has yet to start? The words "To follow that one" bother's me. Its as if he is speaking about a future program, not one currently far enough along to allow a 2007 car.

Nice to hear that
I'd like to know that they're working on something right now.
Talk is cheap. Let's see something get done, shall we?
