I saw a C6 on the road last night... odd....

First of all, I *NEVER* see anything in my neck of the woods... (this occured on Market Street in Boardman, OH)

Short of Lordstown Assembly being within 30 miles or so, there is probably no reason for the C6 to be out this way.

The odd thing is I passed a new Viper, the C6, an XLR, and a Lotus Esprit all in the period of about 3 minutes...

Don't know if it was all related or not, but it is odd to see those kinds of cars around here...

The C6 was either Precision Red or Mag Red... it was hard to tell because it was dusk.

I wanted to turn around and chase it down, but I got stuck at a red light too long going the opposite direction, and I lost too much time sitting there.

I was acting like a goofy little kid... my wife just sat there shaking her head and making fun of me.

That would make some sense.

It's just REALLY REALLY odd to see anything like that out this way...

I wish they would have pulled over for some coffee or something!

For the record, the cars were not all one-after-the-other...

The Viper came first (Silver)... then about a minute later, the C6... I then turned onto S.R. 224, and saw a Black XLR, and then about a minute later a black Esprit.

When I saw the Viper I told my wife "Check out the Viper!". Then when the C6 went by, I just about wrecked the car and strained my neck trying ot look around.

Then when the XLR went by after making the turn.. I said "Something's going on!"

Ahhhhhhhhh, good call. I didn't even think about that one. There must be a few more cars in the comparison test. I would think a Porsche of some sort and maybe even a Farrari. I guess the XLR is there just to show the differences in the two platform mates.

How did that C6 look on the road?

That *IS* possible... I made a turn onto Market Street, and not long after saw the Viper...

There could have been other cars ahead opf it that I missed.

I'll have to keep an eye out for an article in a future mag issue with these cars in it!

You know, I really like the C6, all except the front clip... I dont hate it, but I really am having a hard time getting used to it being a "Corvette" front end.

It was dusk, so it was a little tough to see... and it went by pretty quick.

The lights and fog lights were on...

It did look nice-and-low. The stance was nice.

It looked wider too, on the road...

The tallights have a cool effect from what I saw. I see now about the 'afterburner' lighting effect they talk about.

I thought it looked really good overall. Better on the road than what I saw on the platform up at the Cleveland Auto Show.

The headlamp shape didn't stand out so much when passing it. (A good thing to me) That, though, could be a combination of the headlamps being on, but more likely from the angle of being seated in my car and looking at it from a lower point than standing up in front of it like at the auto show.

I saw a C6 convertable at a Corvette auction over the weekend. They had the top down but the windows rolled up, guess they didn't want anyone touching the interior.....

The car looks great in person (isn't that almost cliche?). The interior is better, especially with the aluminum accents. I especially liked the accents around the display controls around the gauges, really set those apart, and sorta reminded me of the 300Z, and the aluminum rings around the guage dials really enhance the "3D design". I do wish they'd have put some aluminum or color acccent on the steering wheel.

Even though it's only inches shorter and narrower, the cars looks MUCH more svelt, more tossable, and in general much more althetic.

My only thumbs down is the plastic around the third brake light. I don't know if it's there as a styling element, for manufacturing, to make that light stand out more, or a combination, but it's not at all tastefull on this caliber of car.

And finally, being a champion of change...I like the front end.

I've seen more than my share of them out here.

Seems alot of articles that are in the US, but outside of Michigan have either San Francisco, LA, Oceanside (alot of Automobile Magazine articles come from there for some reason) or San Diego in it.

Why would the XLR be in that comparison? If you saw SL500, SC430, XLR..ok, but the XLR would kind of be odd in that comparison.

Not really. The XLR is on the same platform as the C6 so I bet it is there to show the differences between the two of them. Since a lot of the Vette purists are pissed off about having to share the car with a Caddy, I bet they will point out just how different the two are. The whole reason for the comparison would be to showcase the C6 as compared to others since it is the only new one of the bunch.

To compare with its platform mate, C6...see what you're not getting for the extra $25K.

To me the car that stands out the most of that group is the Lotus Esprit. I doubt the current Esprit was any sort of benchmark for the C6. It's in its last year of production and really doesn't compete with the Vette.

Thats what I was thinking but who says the Esprit was part of the test and not some rich Ohio guy driving by at the same time?

This *IS* possible...

It was the last 'standout' car that I saw, BUT.... I can say pretty safely there aren't many Lotus's running out here, and I've never seen it before, and I notice these things... so... I would assume it was part of the group, but I can't say that for sure obviously.
