It has a definite A4 Avant flavor to it.

well at least that front stripe isnt chrome this time

Actually I dont think it looks bad. What comes in it for a motor. And is it FWD or RWD?

I kinda like the Malibu Maxx. There's a European flavor to it.
Still don't like the front end (although the SS version is a bit better being body colored) and I hate those character lines above the wheel well openings.

The back end reminds me of a Impreza a bit. And I think the A4 flavour comes from the rims, which probably won't see production.

I think the Malibu Maxx looks like a very nice car (not my style though)

They had that SS at the NYC auto show, I didn't take any pic because it wasn't a real car, it was made out of foam, the interior only goes to the top of the door

if the SS came with a 260HP DOHC 3.6L then I would say it is worthy of the SS name

Curious?

As a closet 97- present Malibu fan, will there be a non-wagon SS version like this one? If so, are there any pictures?

More than anything, it reminds me of mid-late 80's Ford Escort Wagon. The next one on the line is Mazda Protege5.

That looks nice too. From the side it looks like an edgier elongated Subaru. It's funny how a set of wheels can make or break the overall look of a car. The AMG looking wheels look nice.

If it wasn't a wagon it would be kinda cool. However, I'd prefer a Tahoe SS package.

Are you kidding me? Look at the track record of what cars earned the SS badge, In the old 60s muscle car days, you had to have nothing less than a 396 to have the badge. Once emissions stuff started coming around, GM retired the SS name for the time being, a smart move.

They brought the SS badge back with pride with the Impala LT1 SS. Right on! Then, the 96 Camaro SS gets resurrected. Seems like GM is getting on the right track! Then they discontinue the platform of the RWD V8 platform of the Impala to an ultra cool FWD V6. And now some of you people think its acceptable for GM to use the SS badge for a 3.6 liter FWD V6 family wagon? Gimme a break. Its a disgrace. GM has disgraced just about every musclecar they've had and now they are just dragging the SS name through the mud.

When's the cavalier SS coming out?

Ooohh, I do like what I see. Seems like this could be a worthy contender in what I consider to be a booming sport-wagon market.
