That's the Korean version in the photo. Autoblog has an article on the U.S. version here.

I'll be very interested to see what people shopping for a 30k plus car (that's supposed to be competing with much more expensive cars...) think of the Hyundai dealership experience...

Yeah, nothing really new here. It all still looks like design cues ripped off from other auto makers.

Yep. Of course, that is how Lexus got started (making a Mercedes lookalike, only at a much lower price and with better reliability). Look where they are now.

Other than the goofy grille, I think it is a reasonably handsome vehicle. The problem is, as you and rob mentioned, it looks just like too many others (particularly Lexus and BMW of late). If it had an L on the grille, I'd just assume it was a new Lexus model.

It looks to be well executed, though. The interior seems to be quite well done, even if the design of it isn't the most exciting around.

It is interesting to watch Hyundai start doing to Toyota what Toyota did to the Big Three.

It also makes me wonder how they make money on their more recent cars. Government subsidies? Big pocket donors willing to patiently wait for the Toyota like growth? How can they sell cars like the Azera for thousands less than their competitors without serious skimping? It doesn't seem like their recent interiors are skimping on materials or features.

A Lexus LS copy for $50k (vs. $65k or whatever for the real one) I could see. But if this thing really starts in the upper $30k to lower $40k range...how??

The fact that they didn't put the Hyundai badge on the grille says a lot. They know exactly where this car stands, and what people will think of it.

Expect this to be about as successful as the VW Phaeton.

According to AutoBlog, it will start below $30,000 (for the V6 model). On a separate note; when will the silver-painted-plastic interior trim fad go away? Soon, I hope.

Looks like a very nice car. 0-60 in under 6 seconds and under $30K? Sounds pretty good to me.

That thing will sell there is no doubt about it. The looks while taken right from Lexus and Infinity at a cheaper price will be loved for those whom don't care about the brand.

If the Koreans can build a Lexus for $30k then the Chinese will build a Hyundai for $20k and the game is on. It's going to be hard to justify a brand soon with cars like this costing half.

One thing we have seen is while a Lexus or a Infinity can try to copy M-B they too can be easily copied. BMW and M-B still do well as they really can't be copied and I hope that holds true for some domestic brands outside of the obvious Vette, Viper, Camaro, Challenger, Charger or Mustang.

Doesn't the Azera start at about 27-28K? I know a fully loaded one goes deep into the 30's approaching 40k

Only the sedan gets the V8, though.

368hp out of a 4.6 on 87 octane is pretty damn good. If Ford could do that with their 4.6 they'd have a lot more vehicles worth buying.
