Hummer to draw the line at H3?

H3 to be the basement or H4?

Yep, I read that yesterday.

IMHO, if there is an H4, it should be a Jeep Wrangler competitor, and not a crossover by any means. And that's the problem.

GM doesn't have anything that could serve as the basis for this without developing a whole new frame, which is doubtful.

I don't think they should worry much about people moving away from other GM products. In the end that is all about personal preference. People who like the Envoy will buy the Envoy.

It sounds like the H4 would compete with Jeep Liberty. I see that as a good thing. A liberty sized vehicle with even better offroad capabilities certain has potential, if its marketed right.

The big question will end up being image. Many Hummer enthusiasts already feel the H2 is pushing it for the Hummer name. With the H3 coming down the tubes, I can't imagine Hummers credibility will be soaring. On the other hand, does it matter?

Jane Soccer Mom will still go out and buy her hummer, regardless of its credibility.

My opinion is that GM already have Chevy and GMC doing battle in the lower ends of the truck and SUV market.... why water down the Hummer name and risk alienating those who are buying your big-dollar items? Especially when a lot of that buying is based on the excusive brand image that Hummer current has.

I always thought the Hummer brand was just a fad. Is the H2 still selling well? Maybe a H4 would give them the volume to support the 1&2.
