A guy over at the F-body forum ordered a Z06 and was invited to the factory to see it being built!

Final inspection. This is just about 50 feet down from where the car hits the floor for the first time. Just about 50 feet past this point is where it is driven for the first time.

Short and sweet: This car exceeded every expectation I had. It is absolutely amazing in every way. I'm at home now trying to devise a way to put a free'r flowing air filter on it. It has some strange lookin unit that resembles a bunch of smashed up paper towels. I wish they had something out for it.

Hey, That's Performin' Norman.....he's posted here just the other day...lucky SOB has ALL the cool toys.....

 

that perhaps explains the pride we have in building these cars.

Some of you have heard me say "I see lil souls in those headlights"............well.........I can never get tired of watching the cars come off the line. (I guess you have to be an enthusiast to understand that)

the other thing? When I'm at an event......and I see the cars lined up....lovingly polished and waxed.........it really does something to me.

That reminded me of the end of Episode 3 when they were putting Darth Vader together

Pretty cool that they let him take pix in the plant. When I get mine, I'm gonna get museum delivery, AND go up a few weeks early to watch it go down the line!

I never thought about the Air Filter. Thats pretty crazy looking although I bet it is pretty high flow as it is. I would love to do the museum delivery on the Corvette (or my next Camaro). I was lucky enough to go the 50th anniversary and see the museum and it is definately worth the trip. Next time I will get a factory tour. Must do for any car fan.

I like the z06 in black. With black powedercoated wheels and a nice tint, it would look even nicer.

It's way more than a couple of hours. Somebody needs to provide additional info, but 30 hours is the figure in my head. Don't forget that the vehicle has to go through the paint shop too.
