A guy like me who LOVES his 94 Z28 . I am open to options on the daily driver ...hence my Cobalt SS . I was/am deadset on a new Camaro mid 2009 ...but , seeing this G8 has kinda got me thinking . If the Camaro falls short on a couple of my personal expectations I would have no problem buying a G8 .

As of right now, there's not even a contest. Unless the camaro gets a majorly redone interior in the production version it looks like my next ride will be another imported pontiac.

One's a 4 door, one's a 2+2...not sure why I'd cross shop them. I'd replace the GP with a G8 for sure...but not one of the Camaros. Then again, I won't be replacing the Camaros

I have a wife and three kids. I would cross shop cars that would hold our whole family vs one another (G8 if it has a bench back seat, Charger, etc) and "sports cars/sports coupes" that don't against one another -- 2+2 vs 2+3 is a big deal in my world. Minivan/sedan/sports car is my family's preferred auto lineup -- the "sedan" can be a two-door but has to be able to take three kids in the back seat, at least for short trips, in case the minivan is in for service or something. Right now our existing sedan is getting tired, so that's next on the car-buying list.

I'm excited about the G8 but then again I was excited about the GTO and while it lived up to my standards sales were not exceptional. But I think GM will do better with the G8 and as a replacement for the GP I think its head and shoulders better. Not to mention teh GP sells quite a bit more than the GTO and there will be a large crop of people who want that type of car and I think the G8 will really impress them.

For me I'm pretty set on the Camaro but its nice to have a real choice to consider and the G8 is worthy of that.

So best case senario, Camaro for him and the G8 for her. With some key swapping from time to time.

I'm in the exact same boat.

The only way I'd buy a 2 door RWD sports/sporty car is as a weekend fun vehicle now... and if I did that, I'd get a Corvette.... so......... the way things look now, I'll probably never own another Camaro.

I would consider a G8 as a daily driver, but, then again, I doubt I'd buy RWD again for winter reasons, and, for the record, I'm one of those people who don't think it's all that bad driving RWD in the winter....I've done it for years in the past, including my first car, a 78 Grand Prix, followed by an 89 Camaro RS, a 99 Z28, and an 04 GTO..... I just don't see much of a reason to bother with it on a daily driver car...

I'll be considering both. I currently have a Silverado extended cab, not quite enough rear seat room for a forthcoming family...so it'll get replaced. Whether it's with a Camaro or G8 is the question.

Those questions most likely won't be answered until I get to sit in one and see how much room I'm actually dealing with. Will it be as bad as my 3rd or 4th gens? I hope not. My 1st gens were actually more suitable with a more upright seating situation....I'm hoping the 5th gen follows suit.

What you (and I) need is a Tahoe SS.

Yes. But i'll also add Impala/ quad cab pickup/ and Malibu in the card stack. At that time Camaro would probably lose being a 2+2 with the +2 being a small 2, but who knows. If I can afford to buy it new, still single and childless, then it will probably get crossed over with the G8, whatever other coupe Chevy offers (Monte, ect..), and thats about it.

I'm curious what the new SS offerings will be in the full size trucks.

So, not only would I be cross-shopping the Camaro and the G8, there is a very real possibility of ending up with something completely different.

FWIW, I'm also cross-shopping a Suzuki Hayabusa and a Harley Night Train....both are impractical, one is fast, one is slow...but they are both cool to me and I like them for different reasons. When you can't have both, you have to make a decision...that is a very real situation for most everyone looking at a new Camaro as well.

I'd say I will. I don't have the family thing to consider, but if the G8 looks anthing like the holden I'd say I'll consider it too. So far I'm set on the camaro but something else MAY catch my eye, weirder things have happened.
