How do you build the cheapest RWD car possible?

Not a truck nor a sports car...yet

For some reason the removeable fiberglass 'cap' of the '73-'91 C/K series Blazers seems like an idea whose time has come again with this kind of vehicle.
Of course urban folks and those of us without a garage would be kinda screwed.

This is just some daydreaming on a cheap, crude, maybe not very stylish RWD car. Bring Camaro into this and I will **** on it all day long.

Can you say "NAFTA?"

What this post started out as made me think of a car that was done kinda like this in the past................
............................the Fiero...............
I think.....and the key word is 'think' that Mr. Lutz was talking about how to save costs......worldwide........and I think there IS merit to what he's saying.
That said.....I'm not so sure he's talking about North America........
As to a Camaro or anything else that is cobbled together? No way....I'd rather never see the car come back....

I didn't think the Fiero was meant to be or ever really considered cheap and crude as much as a dedicated urban transport vehicle that somehow developed a sportscar following.

I always thought it was a dedicated chassis. Now I'm especially impressed with what Lotus did with the suspension in '88.

Getting back to this GMT355 Nomad, what will contractors buy now that the Astro is no longer in production? Remember, it's a work truck.

Seriously though...could this be good platform for a midsize Avalnche type vehicle, but 2WD or AWD, with no off-road intensions and a much more car like, or touring personality? That would seem to be a good balance between work and play.
