The hottest and coldest sellers on the market
The hottest and coldest sellers on the market
Granted this is a condition that is a combination of sales popularity and # of vehicles manufacturered but it is interesting to see where manufacturers apparently way overestimated a car's popularity (produced far more than they could sell, thus creating cold stock) and those where they're being bought about as fast as they're put out.
Re: The hottest and coldest sellers on the market
I've been trying to use that super cold sales on the Crossfire to get into a Crossfire SRT6 convertible (50k dollar car) for more like the typical lease price of a 30k dollar car and swap my Audi A4 for it outright. Probably not going to be possible, but worth checking. Heck, I remember guys getting 200 dollar a month leases on 32k dollar GTOs for the 04 model year when they could hardly give 'em away. Then I guess just because of ram air and the upgrade to the LS2 they started doing decently.
Re: The hottest and coldest sellers on the market
That is a very interesting list. I'm kind of surprised that the Dodge Magnum is on there. I can't help but notice that there are a LOT of lame ducks on the "Cold" list
Land Rover Freelander (Currently discontinued Replacement supposed to be on the way in a year or two)
Taurus (Discontinued)
XL-7 (Replacement on the way)
Montana SV6 (Discontinued)
SSR (Discontinued, but has never sold well)
Sport Trac (Replacement on the way)
Sebring (Replacement on the way)
Santa Fe (Replacement on the way)
Stratus (Replacement on the way)
TT (Replacement on the way)
XK (Replacement in showrooms soon)
Suburban (Replacement on the way)
That leaves:
Crossfire: Way, way optimistic production
Suzuki Verona: Super wimpy inline six - biggest competitor is probably their own, cheaper Firenza
Mercedes-Benz CL: The answer to a question no one asked
Mazda MPV: The only minivan on the market that's as uncompetitive as GMs offerings
Magnum: Surprised me. I see a lot of 'em
Endeavor: A slower, uglier and less capable Grand Cherokee clone.
RX-8: This one kind of surprises me, too, but it is kind of an odd duck. Guess hte market for "family" sports cars is small
Buick Terraza - The ugliest of the noncompetitive and ancient GM vans.
Masda B-Series - An entire generation of Americans know no Mazda truck besides this one. It's that old. Oddly, equally ancient Ranger still sells pretty well.
Isuzu Ascender: Better than GM warranty its only advantage. Teeny, tiny dealer network with this and a 4 cylinder Colorado as the entire lineup its disadvantage.
Suzuki Reno: New to the market, maybe they just haven't caught on yet? I actually don't think this is that bad looking for an economy car.
