It's OK if retro is what you're looking for. But most are against retro and more importantly GM is against it for the Camaro. I wish someone would do a nice progressive concept with some fresh design direction that also used a good amount of cues from all Gens. (1st and Third the most though )

I'd like to take a stab at an evolutionary concept sometime. Not necessarily based on fact, but based more around what our evolutionary dream Camaro would be with some real world thinking thrown in. I'm not the world's biggest fan of retro designs and I'd like to make "amends" with those who hated my concept in PHR for being retro. I think I can do a more modern version and make it look good. If I have time for it in the near future, this forum will be among the first to know. Right now I'm working on something a little...different.

As to this concept that has been posted...blech. Someone photochopped a 67-68 front facia and tailights on a non-Camaroesque body. I do like some of the styling points and I'm not against a flat hood (nor am I with the GTO, but they couldn't hurt) but nothing about the picture does much for me.

I actually like the concept as a whole - the stance is good and proportions are definitely modern. I'm just not thinking this is a good concept for the Camaro. Like others have said, only the front say "Camaro" to me at a glance - NOTHING from a side-shot says Camaro to me at all.

I can see a reach for the old taillights to the lights used in the first F1's, but the F1's had the lamps in a more vertical panel, not so much "on the trunklid" as the concept car.

Gotta hand it to somebody though, they sure took care of the overhangs we all talk about, especially the front one!

Again, NICE concept for something, like a Corvair or Monza maybe?... but not quite "Camaro"-ish enough IMO.

I think the front is kind of cool looking... but as a novelty, we all know my feelings of retro on a production car.... plus, it's been done a BILLION times now.

The rear is not good, and the bubble back thing is not good either, IMO.

Ive been looking forward to seeing KrisH's evolutionary design since he first mentioned it a few months ago... I have to admit, I am somewhat disappointed in hearing you have not had a chance to start it yet. Hopefully you will find some time in the near future!!

the front and rear are wrong, just because its the '69 grafted on an otherwise nice muscular modern looking design.

but.... here's why it can't be a camaro: its proportions/doors only allow for 2 seats.

I just scanned the replies and I didn't see anyone post what that car originally was........................It was the Olds Alero concept from a number of years ago. I have the same poster of the pic in the upper corner. Some of it is alright but it just has that.............well...............Alero look and that is not a Camaro.

Re: hope its not a repost

I think it is a cool looking car, just like it basically was back in 1997. Look at the shape and the quarter panels (even the fuel door placement). Actually, the nearly the whole body made it to the new "concept". Doors, moldings, greenhouse, hell even the lower part of the front end (under the grille) made it intact. Geez, I apparently found the exact pic or set of pics used by the creator of this Camaro concept. Look at the brick surface and ?turntable? the car is parked on. Either he took the exact pic and doctored the background, or the car was rotated/moved on the same surface in front of a different background. I think it is in the same postion, though. *shrug*

At first I thought it was a Camaro front and some new wheels grafted onto the Solstice since we've heard about new cars being based on the Kappa platform, but the Solstice is too cab-back to be this new Camaro. Someone mentioned this Camaro concept looking like an Alero, and I got to thinking about the Alero concept car from back in the day. It definitely looks to me like a '69 Camaro front grafted onto the Alero Alpha concept. Since Camaros aren't two seaters, that isn't necessarily bad, and I think the concept looks pretty cool. Just wanted to figure out where it came from, though.

EDIT: Doh! I didn't see SNEAKYNEIL'S post, but he already called out the concept correctly (consider my post just backup documentation). And Morb|d, that concept would indeed seat 4/5, as I'm pretty sure the Olds concept had a backseat (that is a 113" wheelbase you are looking at). Probably not much headroom, but certainly could accommodate a 2+2.

So where the hell do you put a V8? Deffinately won't fit under that hood. Maybe you can put a doghouse in it like a van and work on it while your driving.

Thanks for posting that link. My GF loves the Alero for some reason and I think she'd like to check this out. If it would've gone into production just like the ALpha concept, I might've even liked it. Heck, put the Aurora V8 in there and it'd kick ***!
