Honda engines in Saturn/GM???
I was over at a Honda board, and someone posted an article on how the 250hp 3.5 or 3.6L Dohc with variable valve timing going into the upcoming Saturn Vue redline and a few other GM application is actually Honda built and sourced.
What a surprise and let down. Don't get me wrong, Honda is an excellent company, but the ricers and other import people will get a hoot out of seeing GM a corporate giant go to Honda for their engines. Ex: One member who read the article said "atleast the other car makers know wo make the better cars now with good reliable engine. no crap like a ford (fix or repair daily)".

If so, won't people on here (or any other GM bbs) be saying the same thing about their use of GM engines in Hondas?

That and they really don't have any large truck.

The smartest thing that Honda could do if they wanted to compete in the large-truck market would be to source a good pushrod motor, as you can't beat them for cost, packaging, weight, economy, etc. You just can't beat the GenIII small-block in this application, so I don't see where their "greenness" or engineering prowlness would point them in a different direction.
Who knows you might be looking at a 250hp+ Honda V6 in the base 2007 Camaro (if it comes out).
GM could keep the V8 for oldschool American thunder guys and have a Honda v6 for the Fast and Furious Import tuner guys.
Having a "powered by Honda" sticker on a Camaro would be very disturbing.

I wouldn't be surprised to see engines being mixed in. It's not like that's a bad thing. Why should Gm or any company burn tens/hundred of millions into making a more powerful V6 or any motor that's going into a non-big seller vehicle when they can just buy rights to a Honda/other company one still tens of millions, but much much less then developing one. GM's a company that wants to make money!! I'm pretty sure most users won't have a problem owning a vehicle with another corporations motor in it, if it doesn't effect their driver experience/outcome and might end up saving them 500-1000 dollars potentially.
The Pontiac Vibe uses the Toyota 2ZZ engine. And there were other cars that used other car maker engines and other things too. It's not the end of the world. It's smart business.
