Holy poo poo batman, Mustang sales up 73% in Sept !!!!
Holy poo poo batman, Mustang sales up 73% in Sept !!!!
With all the gloom and doom with sales for Ford and GM, I thought I would post a bright spot.
Mustang sales were up 73.3% for September. For the year, they are up 36%.
As a matter of fact, Ford brand car sales were up 15.5%. F/L/M car sales were up 6%, and FMC car sales, as a whole, were up 3.3%.
If GM car sales were down 14%, do we know what Chevy car sales did???

73%!
I wonder what those people who killed any chance of bringing Camaro back in 2006-2007 are saying today..... or if they are even still employed at GM.

The new style 05 Mustang was in short supply around this time last year with a couple instances of the production line being down and a slow start up. I think Ford still managed to sell about 192,000 of them (05s). Still no discounts to general public on them and used ones (GTs) are only going for a few grand less than new.
Re: Holy poo poo batman, Mustang sales up 73% in Sept !!!!
Sept of 2004 would have seen next to no 2005 sales yet. The cars were just starting to trickle into dealerships. Thus, this month to month number would primarily be against 2004 Mustangs.
The thing of interest to me, is that there are still shortages of the cars, especially the GT's. There is still a thread on BON, in the employee section, where people can trace the progress of their 2006 orders. Some people are saying there can be up to a 6 month wait on a GT. Whether that is true or not, I have no idea.

The Mustang always sells well the first year of a redesign (1979, 1987, 1994, 1999, etc.), then sales usually drift down for the subsequent years (though not as badly as do most sporty cars). The 2005 Mustang sells no better than did the 1994 Mustang. This is not a growing market segment.

Ford limited the amount they would build for the 2005 model year. If they would not have done that, then who knows what they would have sold.
That said, there is still a great deal of backorders on the Mustang, and they are now in the 2006 model year. I would not be surprised if the Mustang sold pretty much the same for the 2006MY, as they did for the 2005MY.

Could the sales spike kinda just corrolate with the GT being avail again , the vert too . Most dealer here havent had any GT's since since the inital deliveries when they just came out . Just over the last month or so they dealers are loaded with GT's . Greats news though , gotta put a hastier haste in GM's Camaro plans , whatever they may be .
