Holden Torana, and more VE info ?

http://www.yp.goauto.com.au/mellor/m...256D260028F9B6

here is a small bit of info, regarding the Holden Torana and bit of VE platform info..

what struck me as interesting was the "shorter wheel base" version of the VE that might exist.

could it possibly come in long wheelbase/ std / and short wheel base, for smaller , pony size cars ?

the notion of a small than standard, VE platform,

it will be lighter , nimbler, and great handler..

picture it..

base model- HFV6 (thats one kick *** V6)

the S package - HFV6T (turbo version ) at a risk that it will have more potential rthan the N/A V8

and the SS V8.. Ls(x) or whatever they plan...

and then there is the AWD optional factor...

So they would put in the SAAB engines?

The 3.4 & 3.2 V6's?

Also will this mean that they will kill of the Vectra?

well who knows, as long as they are using the HF-V6 (the capacity can easily be selected once the platform accepts it.)

maybe the car will be called differently for each country its targeting... ? isn't that what they mean by niche vehicles ?

Don't really see any good news there. The Torana seems to be pretty much doomed.

Since I'm the first US resident to comment on this thread, most likely because noone here knows what a Torana was or why it's a bit of a big deal here's a little introduction:

http://www.fastlane.com.au/Features/Gold_Torana.htm

It was a combination of an Australian Nova & Monza.

It had a budding performance following till Holden pulled the V8 out of the line up in '78 and downsized the Commodore about the same time. These 2 things pretty much helped kill the Torana. Kind of like the Chevy Monza of the late 70s.

Guess where the Cavalier and Sunbird names came from??
