Holden medium Kappa concept called XP54
Re: Holden medium Kappa concept called XP54
Holden will show a locally made concept – the XP54 – which has been handbuilt on General Motors' mid-sized global Kappa architecture.
Re: Holden medium Kappa concept called XP54
Still no conformation of a V8. All it says is turbo ecotecs and HFV6's.
Will this mean that the Camaro, if built off this chassis, will use these HFV6's?

You don't see any talk of a V8 because the Camaro is Zeta based. No rumors about that. Just rumors about a Kappa Camaro, which is far too late to bring to the table considering the Zeta Camaro has been approved, given $$$ for clay formation, etc.
The Holden Kappa concept did have to be re engineered. I had a chance to drive the Nomad, as well as the Curve. The engines fit in there, with just a little extra room. When I was talking with a guy that has been on the Nomad team since its inception, he said what others inside GM had told me, but was kept quiet. That they were working on a V6 in Kappa, but significant changes were to have been made.

EDIT: By Kappa I mean Solstice-style Kappa. This "mid size" Kappa does seem to have interesting possibilities. The decision on the exact Camaro platform has to have been made a while ago though, and we're just hearing about mid-size Kappa now....it's all pretty maddening....

It was supposed to be zeta but, it was built from a modified Kappa because the zeta wouldn't work. Was the original plan Zeta? Yes. Do plans change? YES.
Until GM comes out and says something about the Camaro, it is all rumor

Turbocharging an ECOTEC, someone at GM finally woke the hell up. That is a great idea, I'd love to see that landing in the G6 or Cobalt instead of the S/C.

Hopefully the rumors hold true and the cobalt SS ends up with a turbo within a couple years .

At this point, any sort of Camaro-like styling exercises performed for the Zeta coupe, can easily be transferred to a different platform.

Whatever it is, we'll have a better handle on it in 5 days.
