Here's a Camaro design I thought up

I tried to base this on all generations of Camaro. My photoediting skill isn't that great, but focus on the design, not how crappy it was done. I based it mainly on a '78 Camaro and a '94 Camaro.

What do you think?

harsh

but I agree about it not looking that great. Doesn't appeal to me, but that's IMO. Maybe others will like it though. Keep at it.

Photoshoping just to be photoshopping, huh?

I really don't need to tell you that thing looks absolutely horrid with perhaps maybe 0.002 seconds of thought at most put into it's design or it's complete irrelevence to an actual Camaro look of any generation, do I?

some of you guys are acting like complete and utter a$$holes to him
i would think that you guys would have a few more manners and atleast respectfully say "it's not what i would consider good looking for a next generation camaro imo"
(not intended toward steveo or njspeeder24)

now, imo, i see where you got your design ideas and i can see where most of it can come out of the generations
i don't think it looks too bad but like steve-o said, it does resemble more of an old school monte carlo than a camaro, atleast to me
i say do another design with a new front end and maybe not as much a dip in the door, and it would be a lot better
good work though and keep at it

It looks more like a thirdgen and 80s monte carlo. I don't see what the problem is, the details need to be worked on, but overall a decidedly different approch. And different is good

Complaining just to be complaining huh?

Personally, I thought it ended up looking like a 1970s Buick. I didn't expect much from anyone in the area of comments. Car fans are always pessimists when it comes to anything. You don't read many positive comments on here. If someone says "I like the Dodge Viper" 20 people would respond with reasons why he shouldn't like it.

It was nice of you to do some research in constructing your insult however Gelding, I'm actually impressed you took the time to google my name or whatever you did.

oh don't worry about it too much Brangeta.. I think it's a start.. Too boxy (you can clearly see the influence..) maybe try something from the Velite/Chevy SS concenpt and work from there... I know its a fresh start but don't take the criticism to heart.. keep trying I'm sure you will make a concept that everyone will like in the future. Best of luck.. and keep checking out other concepts to get various ideas as well. Try searching for concept car pics online... google is your friend

I figured I'd take the Simon Cowell approach to this.

If it was a just a little bad, then I'd simply say what I didn't like. But this creation had way too many things to mention. But since unvc92camarors was absolutly right in my not being constructive, I'll list the things I think is wrong with the design, constructively.

1. The wheels are nice. I like the 4th gen Firebird wheels better than Camaro's (especially in chrome), so you got a thumbs up from me there.

2. Your green house is way too tall. It has the proportions of an Dodge Aspen/Plymouth Volare sedan. I get the feeling that if I took a turn hard enough to spill my Starbucks Cafe Mocha, the whole car would tip over on it's side like the Flintstone mobile when the waitress brings out a side of Bronto Ribs during the closing credits of the cartoon.

Not good..... for Fred, or your design.

3. Is that a chrome protector strip running along the side of the car... a SPORTS car!!

4. The 2nd Gen windshield looks like it was forced onto the design with a very, very large hammer, but if that was the case, then the windshield would shatter. Because of this contradiction, your windshield defies explanation and confuses me.

5. The Corvette mirrors are a nice touch, so I like that part.

6. The front end looks like a squished Monte Carlo. This might be a good idea if you were designing a modern Monte Carlo (however most likely, probably not), but it by no means looks right on a Camaro. You combined the center grill section of the late 2nd gen, perhaps THE ugliest Camaro grille of all time, along with it's front bumper (ditto for Camaro bumpers) and attempted to force it on a low slung hood & front end (save the pretty unsightly raised center section of the hood. Overall, it look like a modern version of Jimmy Durante's nose or the front of an old AMC Matador sedan, only less tastefully done.

(Since I know some members may not know what on earth I'm refering to: http://www.matadorsedan.com/images/MyMat1.jpg
http://us.imdb.com/gallery/mptv/1150...rante,%20Jimmy)

7. The side sheetmetal of the car is boring. The boring side sheet metal on the '67 & '68 Camaro work because it drew attention to the front end of the car. In this instance, as hit on in the previous point, drawing attention to the front of this car is probably is one of the worse ideas since Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait.

8. The 70s era side marker lights are a great touch, and a far cry from the simplistic approaches taken on todays cars.

9. Ducktail rear spoilers are out today. I loved them on 70s era F-bodies, but today's cars don't have them, and wouldn't look right with them. Besides, you used the one off a Firebird in your picture of... a Camaro!.

10. It seems that you put ground effects on this car, which is good. But those ground effects look like they came from a low budget mail-order aftermarket company for Hondas, and that's bad.

The reason I'm rather critical of your design is because it's not even a design! It's simply nothing more than an obvious hodgepodge of old Camaro & Firebird parts (among whatever else is in there), thrown together haphazardly without any thought to it's overall appearence.

You exercised no creativity of your own, and you made no attempt to come up with a coherent idea. Instead it's as if you grabbed a bunch of previous generation pictures and forced them together even though it didn't fit. You simply can not take the 3 box somewhat upright design of the 1st gen, the rather more rounded and sculptured nose & bumper of the late 70s 2nd gen, the lowslung swoopiness of the 3rd & 4th gen, staple them together and think you have something that looks good.

I'm always been polite & constructive with freehand drawings, and photoshops that actually show the person took the time to make it all come together, whether I liked the design or not. Design is subjective, however, when all of a design doesn't come together in a single theme, you end up with vehicles like the Pontiac Aztec.

When you do something like this, post it for everyone to see, and then ask for feedback, at least take the time to create YOUR design. Don't just simply cut up a bunch of pictures and put them together. Be original.

'Nuff said.

I might be merciless in my comments about "professional" designers such as Tom Peters (the clown who ruined the C6, not to mention the Aztec), but I don't comment very often on amateur works. If this guy enjoys doing the occasional "photochop," good for him.
