I wish Chevy or Pontiac had something like this. Something that could be built by GM DAT.

That's terrible--if it goes into production, it takes the crown from xB as the ugliest thing on the planet.
With 300HP turbo engines available, why doesn't Chrysler figure out a sleek, RWD/AWD car to stuff them in, rather than chasing the endpoint of ugly with crap like Caliber and this monstrosity?

I wouldn't be surprised if Dodge partners this product with VW or Mitsu...for sale in US and Europe.
The more I learn about it, the cooler I think it is. It sort of reminds me of my old GLH.

Re: Here it is. Dodge Hornet
Somebody hand me the flame suit. I like it. If it has decent power and good handling, it would be something I would consider for a second car or a city runabout.
I would prefer Pontiac come out with a turbocharged ecotect AWD Vibe, though. However, it doesn't appear that's going to happen, at least not soon, since rumors I've heard indicate that the Vibe GT (with the VVTiL 1.8) and AWD (only available with detuned base engine) are going away for 2007, anyway, but supposedly the base will get a power boost.

Re: Here it is. Dodge Hornet
I think it looks goofy, i would rather drive my wife's beetle around than that thing. It also looks like a mini rip-off to me. But it will probably sell well, regardless of what performance enthusiasts think. At the same time, the tuner crowd might have fun with this one - it's supercharged so it's probably just a pulley and tune away from a good 220hp and i'm betting it's only aroudn 2600 lbs.
Re: Here it is. Dodge Hornet
You know, although the Mini has been the car I'd buy if I was trapped in LA or San Fran, and never drove far outside the city, this is a car I'd seriously consider even over the Mini. Beyond the looks, the supercharger guarantees a very entertaining "Point and Shoot" factor, and the size means my San Francisco residential parking options are good compared to my T-Bird and seemingly equally long Camaro (because of an abundance apartment "garages", and people taking up 1 1/2 spaces on the streets in SF's "residential" areas, a very small car is making more sense to me every day!)
The car looks like a giant transformer toy or something you might see in a futuristic Japanese Anime. The car is incredibly ugly, but it's so far off the scale that it's actually extremely cool!
If the 4 wheels and a box called the Scion Xb can do as well as it has, this car is the best (and probally only) answer from Detroit's 2 and 1/2 that can not just do a job taking those sales, but the only car I've seen from an American brand that can without a doubt sell well here & in Europe and (gasp!) Japan!
If DamilerChrysler offers it overseas and not here, they are letting a good thing slip away..... till the Japanese bring it here 1st.

Re: Here it is. Dodge Hornet
Looks like they took the front-end styling of the Dodge M80 concept of a few years back and grafted it on a Scion xA....

Why does every vehicle aimed at the "active 20-something" buyer follow the same formula? Are all these things really that successful?
It seems to me most of the biggest hits with the younger crowd were accidental. The Honda Civic is the one that instantly comes to mind. Kids don't like to be marketed to and told what's cool. This explains the overwhelming percentage of 50+ year olds I see driving Elements.

Re: Here it is. Dodge Hornet
Even though this is a two door hatch, does Dodge really need this with the Caliper on the way?
BTW, I saw a white Caliper on the way home from work today. It looked like somebody tacked on a Magnum front end on a Subaru Forrester.
