Hefty rebates comming back?

http://finance.yahoo.com/insurance/a...re-coming-back

With the threat of gas going to $4 or more will we see a lot of rebates on all of the big trucks and SUVs?

I recall reading in Automotive News last week that the GMC Sierra has a $3,750 rebate on some models. The Silverado has a $2000 rebate on certain models.

I'm sure they are going to have to offer something, otherwise, these vehicles will most likely be sitting around the lot.

IIRC, Sierra and Silverado both have 3500 on the 3/4 ton CLASSIC models, and 2500 on the 1/2 ton CLASSIC models. The new body style has, I think 1000 rebate on the 1/2 ton trucks and 1500 on the 1/2 ton Avalanche.

0% or $1500 on the 1500 Silverado (I assume it's the same for the Sierra)

I've been trying to sell my Tahoe LT for months... there just aren't any buyers out there.

I would think most people who could afford gas for it would be able to buy a new one.

A lot of people also feel that they are automatically worth what their payoff is (may not be the case above, I am just stating a possibility). I think a lot of them are way overpriced. Especially given the climate.
