Have Faith??

Planning on getting a mustang in '06 since there is nothing else around that fits the bill.I've been hearing all this have faith stuff and all the Zeta,Kappa ,Torana gibberish for some time now.Can anybody tell me if the '08MY is still the target for a RWD chevy coupe?Or has that been pushed back even farther?Any chance of something sooner??I try to stay up on all the hints over here ,but lately I've gotten lost in all the confusing code names and possibilities.Sure wish chevy would give us something to wait for.

Re: Have Faith??

Guy says that this chevy coupe has been moved to a MY07 release, so who knows.
right now, there is questions if Camaro will be built off Zeta or this new Kappa.

Re: Have Faith??

I see it like this,
Dodge has some awsome stuff out..we are thinking of getting a Magnum in about 2 yrs something used but new to us, I got my 94 Z28 that way and its been a blast but been looking for something newer...the charger comming might be an option since it will be out for a yr and we will be looking, So Dodge is a good contender, Ford? We do have a stang so geting a 05 or 06 would be cool...

Im looking at it this way now..it was either Ford or Chevy with the cars that people wanted and Dodge played catch up and had low sales figures on performance cars we wanted..and never succeded..was always Mustang Camaro Firebird..and 90's FWD Dodge Daytona...stang SS WS6 and Dodge Avenger??? now it looks like we are on the tail end..Charger, GTO, Mustang.....????

Right now its whatever is out there in our price range that looks good hauls butt and if somthing from Chevy is not there??? oh well..

Something had to be said before the Mustang came out..blew that...

something had to be said before the Magnums and now charger concept start rolling off the line...nothing said...

GM your loosing potential customers to people that will buy something other than a Camaro cus they need something new and fun...dont be the Daytona and Avengers of the new Century...just my opinion..something has to be said before its not worth the investment..

Re: Have Faith??

I got tired of waiting a decided to turn one of my 67 Camaros into a g-machine. No C5 chassis/drivetrain swap, but enough brakes, suspension, hp and a smooth modern day tranny to give many of today's cars a run for their money.

I'll worry about how I can afford a new Camaro when that time comes; whether its 2006, 07, 08 or even 09.

Re: Have Faith??

I really don't think the new Chevy Coupe will be something I want to buy, just basing that on the styling direction Chevy is going. So I'm going to keep my SS and turn it into a drivable monster.

The only new GM Vehicle I would consider buying is the GTO but I'll wait for a little better styling.

Re: Have Faith??

I will be in the market for a new car in a year. I'll be looking hard at the SE stangs (assuming they're out, which is likely), as well as the Charger, maybe the Magnum. I'm willing to wait for a Camaro if something is officially stated.

I'm tired of waiting. If Chevy doesn't at the very least announce anything soon and/or have a concept, I'll probably buy an SE mustang. Wake up Chevy!

The other thing which someone already mentioned is, I'm not sure I want to wait because I may not like the car...
all that waiting for nothin when there are a lot of options out there.

Re: Have Faith??

I came to an epiphany last night. In the "******* on GM" thread, I've been very vocal about my aggrivation with GM these days.

Bottom line, in today's market, they HAVE lost my purchase. If that's the way they want to play ball, fine, I don't have to buy their junk.

*IF* there is a halfway decent (actually for the time we've waited, it better be damned DECENT, all the way!) car available in the future, fine, I'll consider it then. Until then, thank you, I'll look elsewhere. GM has dug its own hole there. Until they come out with something with style and affordability, I'll bid farewell to the General.

Re: Have Faith??

chevy used to be known for quality performance cars. Now its fwd crap and about 10 SUVS. Do they really need 2 full size models, blazers, trail blazers, equanox, etc, etc. Then they have cavy and replaced it whith cobalt, which still screams cheap to me. Tell ya what my next car isnt gunna be GM, FORD, CHRYSTLER, Nope my *** is gunna be riden in an M3. I am tired of crap interiors, squeaks rattles, sh@tty trannys, poor qualitly control, terrible service, and they dont cator to the cust. Sure, gm ownes like 8 different car companies but they are all cheap with the exception of caddy. I know people who have put 220k miles on BMWs never, had problems with them. No friggen opti to replace, no piston knock, no ****ty rear ends. No bad shifters...nothing. grrr...i am just tired of american car companies makeing **** cars...and people wounder why imports are makeing sales. Its because american cars have no styleing, the technology isnt there in the interior. Acura is doing it right with the TL with the indash navigation and a 6spd tranny. Who needs on star? That has to be the biggest pos design ever. They charge you out the *** for it but are you ever going to use it? no, 99% of the population has a friggen cell phone. If i get hit in a car accident all you have to do is dial 911...the only thing gm offers that remotely interests me is the vette, 46k the silverado ss, 45k, ssr 48k thats it...nothing else they have is remotely interesting. All pontiac has is the gto and a bunch of throw away cars. Saturn makes nothing but fugly cars. Buick will go the way of oldsmobile since all they do is cater to the 50+ crowd. Caddy makes the STS-V which is a nice car but not worth 50k

Well then I hope you enjoy exploding engines, GM transmissions (BMW buys GM automatics... they must buy them because they suck I guess...), and horrific electrical problems along with outrageous after warranty service and replacement costs.

Re: Have Faith??

I'll second PacerX.... M3's are all over where I live. But you find more in the shop than on the road. It just bugs me that GM uses the 5 speed auto with BMW and very little for their own cars. But BMW's engines aren't exactly high output other than the M3 or M5, perhaps it has a power issue.

It's sad that American's really think that the Germans make better autos than us.

Re: Have Faith??

I'll third that....BMW? They have HORRIBLE reliability. And it costs an arm and a leg to fix. American cars are a lot more reliable than you think.

Truth is, most owners of foreign cars just don't want to admit that they made a mistake in purchasing a car they thought was a smart purchase because of "reliability".

Typical Honda owner after dealer tells him he needs a new alternator, "oh well, must be a fluke, my car is still really reliable and was a smart purchase".

Disgruntled American owner,"All American cars are made like s**t!"

All perception and wishful thinking.

MY07 means that I could go to my Chevy dealership and get one up in the fall of 06? If thats the case that is just totally sweet!!!

Re: Have Faith??

I would be happy with Chevy (GM) to just say officially a pony car will be joining the line-up in 200X. That would be enough for me. I don't need to hear a name or styling, just something definitive...is that too much to ask for?

It seems like it is, Posaune. Meanwhile, I'm going over to GM's competition and I'm increasingly pleased with results.
