Has anyone seen or heard of the Ford Concept 2000 GT?
This is a picture I scanned from a book I bought several years ago. It says it is a 1987 Ford Concept 2000 GT and I've never seen it before. The front portion looks remarkably like a 4th gen Camaro, so I was wondering if anyone here has a picture of the front of the car? I did both a google image search and webpage search and came up with nothing but 1 low quality version of the picture I scanned on some Russian or German or something car site. The car looks really really cool to me, so I'd love to see other pictures of it if anyone has any. Maybe those of you with mid-1980s car magazine subscriptions have some pics of it?
Here is a quote from the book, the only quote that relates to the car. "Sweeping lines and a high-angle hatchback design characterized the 1987 Ford concept 2000 GT model. It was a marked departure from the traditional look of this make, particularly with its nose-down racing stance."
It's a Fiero with a body kit guys.
The side windows & fuel tank position are Fiero:

Either someone is playing a joke, or Ford's in the Fiero re-bodying business.

That's impossible, the book can't be lying and those two cars look nothing alike. O_o
Here, I took a pic of the page in the book. (scanner isn't connected to my computer, so this is quicker.)

Find proof that it is a Fiero. Because as of now, the only thing backing your case is your opinion. Just because a know it all supports your claim, doesn't mean it is true. If you find proof, then I'll believe you

Check out the driver's window and fuel cap location on the Fiero and the so called concept. Compare the rear quarter windows. Look ar the side scoop on both pictures. Does "Concept 2000 GT" even sound like a actual car name by Ford or any other major manufacturer (concept or not)?

Yep. All of 'em.
That isn't proof at all. Car companies use other cars as inspiration as you well know. I.E. RX-7 looks just like the C-5. They also reuse parts from their other models, which is a pretty good reason why it looks like a dozen other 1980s cars. Unless you can prove that this is a kit built on a Fiero by showing the kit, the argument just doesn't hold water.
The windows do look extremely similar to a Fiero, but what stops this car from being a concept created to get buyers who were interested in Fieros? The windows are very Fiero looking, but I still have a hard time swallowing the claim that this is built from a Fiero. Many times, car companies use other companies's parts for mock ups and displays, sometimes they ever use the parts from other companies on their production cars. Everyone knows Mosler uses Chevrolet Corvette Engines, but they also use Corvette side mirrors and taillights, and they are certainly not owned by Chevrolet. There's so little information on the internet about cars older than 1991, that it would be difficult to prove my opinion/the book's opinion. It isn't like I can pull up a website that has pictures from something like the 1987 Detroit Auto Show, so it's almost a lost cause

It's far more likely that Ford created a car using Fiero windows, Fiero proportions, with the fuel filler exactly where Fiero has theirs, create a rear end that looks as ameturish the one on the car in question, put on a front end that closely resembles a Fiero, then came up with the creative name of "The Ford Concept 2000 GT", than it is that someone simply took a Fiero, put a body kit on it, and shot some promotional pictures that ended up in a Russian car book misidentified as a Ford.
