harley earl should be spinning in his grave

i bet the great GM designer would be glad to know his image is being used to peddle the most generic and style-free cars on earth..."i've come back to build you a car....that will put you to sleep"
hey,GM,why not dig up larry shinoda,so he can put his stamp of approval on a saturn and since we're whoring out dead people,i bet zora duntov could sell a crap-load of cavaliers and front drive impalas!!!!!

I like the concept of the commercial, but two things puzzle me about it:

1. As stated, the current line of Buicks aren't exactly breathtaking. Granted they aren't bad looking either, just ver conservatively styled. I think they should have held out till they have a completley new car to show. I could see them using these ads for the LaCrosse. That car is beautiful.

2. Harley Earl was a corprate GM designer, not just a Buick guy.

I too like the concept of the commercial but somehow I just don't see Harley Earl designing something like the Rendezvous

I just don't like the fact that they bring his name into this. I doubt most of the population knows who he is anyway. The whole thing seems cheesy. And to whom is it directed at. Those who know who Harley Earl is and know he has nothing to do with current Buicks, or those who don't know who he is/was and wonder why he's back designing cars that look like the same cars they have been building for years. Stick with the Tiger Woods ads, atleast they were more creative and new.

Eh, I like the Harley Earl ads... I think they are done well... yes, Buick could use more exciting products, but I think the ad campaign is tasteful.

Not a bad idea, but Buick truly doesnt have any Earl like products. Now if they had shown maybe the Bengal, Lacrosse and a new Grand National, his use would be justified. Where are all these must have vehicles we all hear about?

I could imagine Harley Earl approving of the Blackhawk concept, but not much else of the current lineup

I like new Buicks quite a bit, especially the Regal GS. But the Rendezvous is just wrong. Of course, none of the new ones compare to old Buicks.
