Guys did we do it???? look inside...
OK..now if anyone remembers my post about "the statement" "or word" that provoked alot of Reds comments of keeping the faith..and alot of people saying heck with GM...and saying the Mustang is looking real good now...
question is did we light a candle under someones a$$ to get the ball rolling...
with some good timing too..I know there has been a car..but I mean (un)official word on the car came out a little after my post of frustration..and now all this info...and the Camaro lifestyle stuff and the campaign to name it Camaro..
if you looked at the timeline of events after my post of :
"GM employees lurking this board beware"
after that alot of events magically fell into place and things started popping up that made us go HEY the word is there is a new "C"ar ..and the campaign is not on the car but on actually calling it Camaro..
just saying alot of back slapping was done on that other board..but if maybee we got things jogged loose to get that info..???
think so??
I mean Red and the rest of the guys that lurk here at GM, I was ready to give in and buy a mustang almost a month ago..and just as my and the others frustration hit a heated level..things got out about the car..more than just faith..
well guys I think I will wait to see whats up
anyone else care to join in on the "I think we are making it happen party"
Thanks GM and Red, an American Revolution cannot happen without a calvery ! (ponycar)!

too bad we have to wait till 07 or 08 for a Z28.Damn,thats a long time for a 40+ year old guy to wait,im not getting any younger
Seriously,Stangs are cool, but the quality control on my mach is a joke.yes LT-1's had many issues, but ford blew it on the mach(paint issues, carpet coming up,engine oil level issues). The car is a lot of fun to drive and very fast, but I would prefer a Z28 like the drawings going around with a 350hp motor.
Its going to be a long 4 years. Can't wait.

Given the gestation period for a all new car, I'd say that given the fact this car will be out in 2007 as a 2008 means that work started on the car most likely before the paint was dry on that last red Camaro that rolled off the line at Ste Therese, August 29th, 2002 and Bob Lutz's official arrival the following month.
What's going on today is that the car has progressed to the final stages where bidding has been done & actual contracts are going out to other companies to engineer & make various subcomponents.
Because the car has progressed to this stage, scores more people "outside" GM has a hand in it's development beyond a relatively small group of designers & engineers. It just seems that we have recently broken a log jam, when in reality the project has been moving forward for a very long time.
It's safe to say the "have faith" statement was for a car already in development, simply (as Mark Reuss stated in July 2002, about a month before the last f-body was made) needed to "find the right chassis for the Camaro".

The "current" profile of what the car looks like is something I like right now, whether people find it too retro or not. Personally, I don't think the sketch looks retro.
However, in saying that I like the car now, will I still feel the same way 3 to 4 years down the track when the car is on the dealer's lot??? The design now may actually be "outdated" by GA date....Granted it could go either way...Cars, in generic sense, need to be out within 2 years for the styling to be "still current". The Camaro/Firebird styling certainly has kept people guessing as to its age because they seem "futuristic" even today when compared to the other vehicles on the road - I guess Nissan and others are catching up very quickly.
