A Guide to "who owns who" in the world of cars

Note that I believe this chart is slightly outdated - so things that have moved around in the last year or two may not be shown here. Also for some reason I noticed Acura is missing which leads me to believe this chart was published somewhere where Acura vehicles are still called Honda.

And here's another chart that's a little bit more of a headache to read but lots of interesting "connections". Looks like a subway map in NYC.

This also shows GM still owning 20% Fuji Heavy Industries/Subaru. I believe that was a couple years ago.

And after the Fiat fiasco MG no longer owns any of Fiat. But as Threxx said this is just a good start and is likely outdated.

Honda is the parent company and Hondas are called Hondas everywhere except north america.

there's been a lot of movement since that map was drawn up, including:

- Porsche buying 27 percent of VW
- GM agreeing to buy proton
- GM bailing out of both Fiat and Fuji
- Ford selling Aston Martin
- MG and Rover are owned by the Chinese
- except the Rover name, which BMW has sold to Ford, to protect future Land Rover and Range Rover products
- Lotus is 100 percent owned by Proton, which GM are in the process of buying a slab of

Yeah, using a subway map for that sort of visualization seems like an inappropriate choice.
