Hopefully infiniti will get some other new products in because the sales are slightly off.

This is good for the consumer because their are far more nissan dealerships to get your car serviced at and the more dealers the more chance for sales competition.

I am actually quite glad the new GT-R will be badged as a Nissan. It is known throughout the rest of the world as a Nissan, I really didn't want to see it as an Infiniti here. Now it is likely to wear a Skyline badge as well.

 

I wonder how close to 4,000lbs. This car will will be. The G35 is already 3500lbs. add AWD and turbo extras and I'm betting the car is up over 3800lbs.

 

If it's a 2 seater may be less.

Thought I read that they make about $1,500 for every car they sell while GM makes about $400...

Unless you meant in performance then thats pretty much a given.

 

Good, I'm glad we will get a "real" GT-R.

I work for a Nissan dealership and was really hoping it stayed a Nissan. This is going to be much fun when it hits! Irony. True muscle car fanatic working at a foriegn car dealer.

 

Glad it was able to keep the Nissan badge. Would've sucked if it was badged as an Infiniti.

Only thing that sucks is if we're looking at a Mustang Cobra weighing nearly 4000 lbs and fearing the new Camaro to be around 3600 lbs, I can't see how the GT-R with its AWD system and twin turbos is going to be under 4000 lbs once mandated for US crash standards and such.

the GTR will be a super high end car, and i bet will base around 45,000-50,000. i don't think this car will weigh much more than the r34 gtr due to using a v6 instead of the huge i6, plus Nissan started changing steel parts for carbon fibre and fiberglass towards the end of the production. Look at the GTR as a Shelby gt500, corvette zo6 competition, and the upcoming supra and the new likely v8 powered NSX from Honda. all the technology is their for the high hp, so it will be interesting what will happen in this round of domestic vs Asian performance.

i think there needs to be good competition in every car segment. lets face it, the mustang is not enough competition, nor the challenger. the more competition their is, the better the cars in that segment has to be. Remember the late 60's? i am not old enough to have experienced it, but i have read lots about it, and they made some of the most bad *** cars during those years.

Word has been for awhile that the new NSX is likely to be v10 powered, which I would rather see anyway. Honda is going to be able to get a v10 engine to rev it's *** off.
