Nope definitely 08 and up. 08's got the new 6060 transmission, revised power steering rack, etc... My brother picked up an 07 after I got mine and the first thing he did was buy a new set of 08 shocks and throw them on.

It doesn't matter, but it was MY2007 that got revised dampers. They improved it but the Z still gets a lot of flak for the same issue. F55, especially in ZR1 form, is just better for an all around car.

Might have been a mid year phase in thing then, I could see that happening.

I winder how much of the flak the Z gets for the rear being skittish comes down to the drivers not understanding the dynamics of a very high HP car with relatively little weight on really bad runflat tires at least in the case of the Z06. If you don't know what your doing the rear can break loose without any warning.

The F55 is a great option though. Helps to have the tune ability.

How is the convertible lighter than the coupe? Isn't it typically the other way around?

It depends on whether the convertible needs additional bracing or not. C2 verts were always lighter than the coupes.

I would imagine a whole hell of a lot to do with driver skill. I do know that even Magnussen said something to the effect that the fast Nurburgring lap in the old setup was a bit scary so you can imagine how intimidating it could be to drivers that are more towards the average range of the spectrum.

All in all it probably won't be a huge issue. They sell plenty of Z51 cars. And who knows what the shock valving changes will do anyway. A lot of the ride quality comes down to tires as well. If I was looking at Corvettes the Grand Sport would be very tempting. The only thing that would stop me is if it rode significantly harsher on crappy roads than my Formula with Konis and big bars. My point with the original comment I made was just that my ideal Corvette would be a wide-body with magnetic shocks that doesn't cost over $100,000

2004 was the first revision to Z06 rear damper valving for jounce control.

Agreed. I won't be surprised to see a number of people jump from the Z06 into a GS for the open top or targa option now that they can get the widebody look.

We weren't comparing C5 to C6 though. The C6 Z has had one revision with regards to valving on the rear dampeners to minimize the rear end moving in turns.

Hmm don't know what they may have done in 2004, but that would have been a C5 Z06. We were talking about the C6's though.

I'm amazed there isnt more talk about the change of the vent in the front fender to the "shark gills".

I think the entire package is a good idea. Though I wonder if it is now classified as a true different model versus just a package.

Originally, when I saw this thread after it was first posted, the side view is all I could see, and the shark gills were the most standout change. I think it's the best looking part of the car.
