Goosebumps.................

Making a cheaper model like the Berlinetta crazy fast isn't the answer either. Its having all models perform incredible they way they should in order and better than the competition for a good price. More perfomance for the dollar too.

And no you can't vote for ZL1. Thats like voting for 1LE. They are specialty/limited models.

Something may have been lost in the translation, when Chevy borrowed the name.

These poll numbers actually surprised me. 51% for Z28 and 45% for SS. I always thought this board was more like 66%-33% in favor of Z28. Maybe the Z28 people are more outspoken than I thought (not looking for flames here. commenting on the facts).

Ahhhh Z/28.....like stated above if you know anything about the Z/28's racing heritage it will be a no-brainer.....the 302 Z/28 somehow managed to spank all the other SS cars (350's and 396's) of the day at everything from drag racing to road racing.......
Hopefully the return of the Z will mark the return of its racing heritage and the all famous /......

What perplexes me is....what chain of events led to such a devaluation of a (the) Camaro icon. You would think that Chevy would have wanted to protect the Z/28 name at all costs.
It's really sad that this debate even needs happen.

I think the reason the Z/28 nameplate has taken such a hit from the crowd is because of Chevy actually selling the SS models as the highest performance.....They new they could do one thing with the SS model, make money, and in the world of business whatever you can do to make more is what happens. By not having a SS model for such a long time (25 years??, I think) they new the nameplate "SS" would grab the younger car buyers to them....With Bob Lutz now in command, I believe the new generation of Camaros will have the Z/28 as the highest performace model......Possibly a LS6 variant with a little de-stroking , we can all wish right!
I also agree that it this topic shouldn't even have to come up...I mean it should be widely known that the Z/28 was a faster, more agile car than the SS ever was.....J/K, we should all be proud to be driving F-Bodys at all!

So many SS haters on here.
Let's try this froma different angle...
No Camaro SS has ever had a 70's hippy's sticker design of contrasting orange and yellow coloring. No Camaro SS ever touted a whopping 180-something horsepower with TPI. When the muscle car era came to and end in the early 70's, the mighty Camaro SS also came to an end. When revived, it was once again at the top of the muscle car pecking order. At no time did the Camaro SS ever become a metallic brown beast with it's name in stickers all over it. The SS also didn't live during the horsepower deprived era of the 80's. When the power began to pick up again, it was once again time for the legendary Camaro SS to make its appearance.
I dont get goosebumps from the thought of 100 something horspower, hippy stickers, TBI (!!), and lackluster performance. Once the great 302 Z/28....turned into an oil-crisis child of its time. We will not forget what it WAS. However, the Camaro SS has ALWAYS lived up to its namesake: Super Sport.
Camaro SS
1967-2002
Rest in peace....
**Flame suit on**
I thought I'd add some spice from the SS side...
